The Most Googled Recipe in 2023

Now, let’s delve into the realm of the most Googled recipes in 2023, where we knew that Papeda secured its spot in the top three. But let’s not forget the K-pop craze that took over everything in the past years. It wasn’t just about catchy tunes and addictive K-dramas; Korean food stole the spotlight too. And guess what’s the crowned champion of the 2023 Google searches? Drumroll, – it’s Bibimbap!

Imagine a colorful fiesta of veggies, bold flavors, and diverse textures stealing the show. Bibimbap, or as I like to call it, the “mix-and-match” Korean rice dish, is a bowl of warm rice dressed up with namul and gochujang. Top it with an egg, some sliced meat, and mix it all up just before that first delightful bite.

Bibimbap, with its rich tapestry of variations, can be categorized into three types based on toppings, locations, and the sauce. Examples include bean sprouts bibimbap, green pumpkin bibimbap, eggplant bibimbap, wild vegetable bibimbap, thistle (Kondrae) bibimbap, raw beef bibimbap, sliced raw fish bibimbap, sea squirt bibimbap, and laver (Kim) bibimbap. These diverse iterations have been etched into culinary literature, standing as timeless testaments to this beloved Korean dish.
