Campari, the iconic Italian red apéritif, and Imbibe Magazine are teaming up once again for Negroni Week, set to run from September 16 to 22, 2024. This year, the global event series will take place in bars and restaurants across the world, with a special focus on Indonesia, which ranks among the top 10 participating countries. With 315 venues registered across the archipelago, Negroni Week 2024 will support its longstanding charitable partner, Slow Food.
Negroni Week isn’t just about celebrating cocktails; it’s about making a difference. In 2023, the initiative brought together over 12,000 venues in nearly 80 countries, raising over $600,000 to support various projects. This includes scholarships for industry professionals and funding for 17 community-based initiatives. For 2024, the Negroni Week Fund, managed by Slow Food, will continue to focus on preserving cultural and biological diversity, promoting food and beverage education, and advancing equity within the hospitality industry.
Campari is extending its support for Negroni Week’s charitable goals through its Campari Red Hands campaign, which highlights the creativity of mixologists. This year, four internationally acclaimed bartenders—Mona Gallosa from Argentina, Tiffanie Barriere from the USA, Joe Schofield from the UK, and Millie Tang from Australia—will share their stories in a series of short films. The films celebrate both mixology and the art of cinema, underlining Campari’s dedication to inspiring bartenders and consumers alike.
Adding a creative layer to the celebrations, Campari has partnered with Soho House for a unique film competition open to members in select countries. Emerging filmmakers were invited to create short films that highlight the transformation of the ordinary into the extraordinary, much like how Campari transforms a Negroni into a world-renowned cocktail. The winning film will be screened at various Soho House venues throughout September, enhancing the global celebration.
Negroni Week in Indonesia
In Indonesia, this year’s Negroni Week promises an even more exciting lineup, with over 300 venues participating across the country. A highlight of the event will be the appearance of Tomasso Cecca, the Global Head of Camparino Licensing & Mixology from Milano, who will be showcasing his craft at Da Maria, Bali on September 18, 2024.
Tomasso, known for his deep expertise and passion for mixology, has an impressive background, including collaborations with iconic figures like Roberto Cavalli. Today, he leads Camparino in Galleria, an iconic venue in the heart of Milan, renowned for its role in shaping the city’s famed aperitivo culture. This venue blends tradition and innovation, making it a global trendsetter in the world of mixology. At Da Maria, Tomasso will craft a Negroni cocktail that perfectly embodies his unique skills and flair for innovation.
The week will culminate in a special closing party on September 22, 2024, at Bali’s Desa Potato Head, a creative hub known for blending art, design, food, and wellness. The closing event, set against the backdrop of a stunning sunset, promises to be a fitting finale to a week-long celebration of mixology and culture.
Michele Porta, Global Channel and Customer Marketing Sr. Director at Campari, expressed his enthusiasm for this year’s Negroni Week: “We’re thrilled to see bartenders and consumers embracing the Negroni Week celebrations once again this September. Negroni Week is a global initiative that also supports a fair and sustainable future for the hospitality and beverage industry through the Slow Food Negroni Fund. For this 12th edition, we will be supporting the fundraising by inviting people to celebrate the stories that our amazing bartender partners have created with Campari at the heart. With Imbibe, we raise our glasses to another successful Negroni Week!”
As Negroni Week 2024 commence, it offers not just an opportunity to enjoy one of the world’s best-selling cocktails but also a chance to support a global movement aimed at sustaining the hospitality industry. Whether enjoying a classic Negroni or trying one of the many creative variations, this year’s celebrations promise to blend tradition, innovation, and social impact in a way that only Negroni Week can.
