The Bali edition of the Top Italian Wines Roadshow concluded on 18 May 2026 at Paradisus by Meliá Bali, bringing together Italian wine producers, hospitality professionals, sommeliers, importers, and wine enthusiasts for a day dedicated to Italian wine education and tasting.
Organised by Italian food and wine publication Gambero Rosso, the event formed part of the organisation’s international roadshow programme, which introduces Italian wines to emerging and established markets around the world. Bali was one of the stops on this year’s Southern Hemisphere tour, reflecting growing interest in wine across Indonesia and the island’s role as an international tourism destination.
Throughout the day, attendees had the opportunity to taste wines presented by a selection of Italian wineries, offering insight into the diversity of Italy’s wine-producing regions. The walkaround tasting session allowed guests to explore a broad range of styles and appellations while engaging directly with producers and industry representatives.
Education was a key component of the programme. Italian wine critic Giuseppe Carrus, a contributor to Gambero Rosso’s annual Vini d’Italia guide, led three masterclasses focused on Italian wine regions, grape varieties, and tasting techniques. The sessions were designed to provide both industry professionals and consumers with a deeper understanding of Italian wine and its regional diversity.
Speaking ahead of the event, Carrus noted that wine continues to gain traction in markets that were once considered less established for wine consumption. He pointed to Bali’s growing tourism sector as an important factor in increasing exposure to wine culture and expanding opportunities for international producers.
The event also featured the presentation of the Top Italian Restaurants Awards, recognising restaurants across the region that showcase Italian cuisine and hospitality. The awards are part of Gambero Rosso’s broader effort to highlight establishments that promote Italian food culture beyond Italy, from traditional pizzerias to fine-dining restaurants.
The Bali roadshow was supported by wine accessory brand Pulltex, whose corkscrews and tasting tools were used during the event.
With wine education, producer engagement, and restaurant recognition forming the core of the programme, the event highlighted the growing presence of Italian wine in Indonesia while providing a platform for industry exchange within Bali’s hospitality sector.
