Glenfiddich and the Aston Martin Formula One™ Team have introduced the Glenfiddich & Aston Martin Formula One™ Team 16-Year-Old Limited-Edition Release No.2, marking the second year of their partnership.

The limited-edition single malt was developed around the shared approach of Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman and Aston Martin Formula One™ Team Managing Technical Partner Adrian Newey, whose work involves making detailed decisions long before the finished result can be seen.

For Glenfiddich, this approach is reflected in the whisky-making process, from selecting and balancing different whiskies to the years of maturation that shape the final expression. The new release uses a five-cask maturation process, combining first-fill bourbon barrels, Port pipes, Oloroso sherry casks, wine casks and a final period in Fino sherry butts.

The combination is designed to build layers of sweetness, richness and oak while maintaining Glenfiddich’s fruit-led character. The resulting whisky has a 43% ABV and is described as having stewed fruit and floral notes on the nose, with hints of marzipan and polished leather. On the palate, it has a silky texture with creamy toffee sweetness, caramelised cane sugar and dry oak tannin, followed by a long, oaky finish.

Kinsman said the connection between whisky-making and Formula One engineering lies in the attention given to details that may not be immediately visible.

“What I find most compelling about Adrian’s work is that the defining performance often comes from what you cannot immediately see. Behind every Aston Martin Formula One™ Team car are hundreds of small decisions, carefully refined to create a seamless whole. The same is true in whisky making. For this expression, I combined the influence of five distinct cask types, each contributing its own character, texture and depth. The art lies not in the individual components, but in bringing them together in a way that feels perfectly balanced and instinctively right. The result is a truly unique Glenfiddich expression, vibrant with fruit, layered with warmth, and brought into perfect balance,” said Brian Kinsman, Glenfiddich Malt Master.

The collaboration draws on the engineering work of Aston Martin Formula One™ Team, including its AMR Technology Campus and Air Tunnel facilities, where aerodynamic and engineering details are developed to influence the performance of its cars.

Glenfiddich and Aston Martin Formula One™ Team announced their multi-year partnership in November 2024, bringing together the Scotch whisky brand and Formula One team around themes of craftsmanship, innovation and performance.

In Jakarta, the launch will be marked with An Evening Beyond on 10 October 2026 at SKYE, where guests will attend a guided whisky tasting and canapé pairing. The tasting will include Glenfiddich Solera Vat Aged 15 Years, Glenfiddich Small Batch Aged 18 Years and the new 16-Year-Old Limited-Edition Release No.2.

Glenfiddich and Aston Martin Formula One™ Team also emphasise responsible drinking as part of the partnership, including the reminder to never drink and drive.
