Australian wineries and winemakers will arrive in Jakarta on 16 October for the final stop of the Australian Wine Showcase Southeast Asia 2026, bringing producers from across Australia together with local trade partners at The Westin Jakarta.

Running from 5 to 16 October, the six-city showcase has travelled through Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Manila, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta, with tastings, masterclasses and trade engagements held across the region. The programme is organised under the theme “Taste Beyond”, encouraging importers, distributors, retailers, sommeliers, hospitality professionals and other trade partners to explore Australian wine beyond its more familiar regions and styles.

The showcase comes as Southeast Asia continues to grow in importance for Australian wine. As of the year ending June 2026, Australian wine exports to Southeast Asia were valued at A$293.9 million, growing by an average of 7.2 per cent annually over the past five years.

Indonesia has also recorded strong growth as a market for Australian wine. Between July 2025 and June 2026, Australian wine exports to Indonesia increased 88 per cent in volume to 864,000 litres, while export value grew fourfold to A$21 million, reaching A$21 million. Indonesia is also among Australia’s top three wine import sources.

For Australian producers, the six-city programme provides an opportunity to meet trade partners directly while learning more about local market conditions, consumer preferences and emerging opportunities.

“We’re looking forward to hearing directly from our partners about what they’re seeing in their markets, what matters to them, and where they see opportunities for Australian wine,” said Sarah Roberts, Regional Manager – Asia Pacific, Wine Australia. “Every market has its own character, so travelling across six cities gives our producers the opportunity to have meaningful conversations across the region. At the same time, we hope to introduce our trade partners to something they may not have encountered before – whether that is a new region, variety, producer or style.”

Australia is home to 65 wine regions, with differences in climate, soil, elevation and geography influencing the grapes grown and styles produced. The country’s wine industry also combines established winemaking knowledge with experimentation involving alternative grape varieties, emerging regions and evolving production styles.

The showcase also highlights the range of Australian wines available across different cuisines and occasions, with producers presenting wines shaped by both traditional winemaking practices and newer approaches to grape growing and production.

The Jakarta event on 16 October marks the final stop of this year’s Southeast Asian programme. The 2026 showcase expands on the 2024 edition, which attracted almost 800 trade visitors across four Southeast Asian markets. Malaysia has been added to the programme this year, expanding the roadshow to six cities.
