The St. Regis Jakarta is introducing The House of Astor Afternoon Tea throughout October, bringing fashion-inspired pastry creations to The Drawing Room as part of a collaboration that connects couture with pastry.

Created by Executive Pastry Chef Kevin Lee, the afternoon tea takes inspiration from silhouettes, accessories and details associated with the Paris fashion runways. The pastries reinterpret these elements through different shapes and designs while remaining part of the hotel’s afternoon tea offering.

The collection includes a Pistachio Financier with Orange Blossom presented in the shape of an emerald handbag, while the Mango and Coconut Cheesecake takes inspiration from the fluid shape of an upside-down couture skirt. A Red Velvet Bar with Vanilla Cream is styled as a lipstick, and a Strawberry Marmalade and Lychee Mousse Delight is shaped like a high heel.

For Kevin Lee, the connection between fashion and pastry lies in their shared focus on creativity and craftsmanship. “Fashion and pastry have a lot in common. Both are about creativity, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. With The House of Astor Afternoon Tea, we wanted to create desserts that are beautiful to look at but also delicious to eat. Each piece is inspired by iconic fashion elements, bringing a little of the excitement and glamour of a Paris runway to the table,” said Kevin Lee, Executive Pastry Chef of The St. Regis Jakarta.

The afternoon tea will also be introduced through a launch event at The Drawing Room, featuring a trunk show in collaboration with Indonesian designer Sebastian Gunawan. Selected couture pieces will be presented in a setting designed as a fashion salon.

The launch will also involve Dinas Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif (Disparekraf) and members of Abang None Jakarta, who will take part in the runway presentation. Fashion personalities Elxi Elvina and Ayu Gani will appear as featured muses for the showcase.

The House of Astor Afternoon Tea will be available throughout October at The Drawing Room, The St. Regis Jakarta, combining couture-inspired pastry creations with the hotel’s established afternoon tea setting and St. Regis rituals.
