Regent Seven Seas Cruises has announced an expanded culinary enrichment programme aboard Seven Seas Prestige, introducing 64 Culinary Arts Kitchen classes and 25 Epicurean Explorer Tours across voyages scheduled through March 2029.

The programme will debut on Seven Seas Prestige, the cruise line’s first new ship class in a decade, further expanding Regent’s focus on destination-driven culinary experiences. Developed by Kathryn Kelly, Executive Chef and Director of Culinary Enrichment for Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the initiative combines onboard cooking classes with food-focused excursions designed to connect travellers with local culinary traditions around the world.

According to the cruise line, both the Culinary Arts Kitchen classes and Epicurean Explorer Tours will be limited to 18 guests or fewer, allowing for a more personalised learning experience.

Culinary Arts Kitchen Debuts on Seven Seas Prestige

Building on a concept first introduced aboard Regent’s Explorer-Class ships, the Culinary Arts Kitchen aboard Seven Seas Prestige is designed as a professional-grade teaching facility where guests can participate in hands-on cooking sessions while at sea.

The space features 18 fully equipped cooking stations and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean. Classes are led by chef instructors selected by Kathryn Kelly and cover a broad range of culinary techniques, from foundational knife skills to regional recipes and advanced cooking methods.

Starting from US$129 per guest, the two-hour classes explore cuisines and culinary traditions from around the world.

Among the featured programmes is Cocina Latina, which examines the diverse food cultures of Latin America, from Mexico to Patagonia. Guests will learn recipes and cocktail preparations inspired by the region’s ingredients and cooking traditions.

Another class, Australia Through the Ages, traces the evolution of Australian cuisine, exploring Indigenous ingredients such as macadamia nuts and the influences of British, Chinese, and European migration on contemporary Australian food culture.

Meanwhile, Journey Across the Mediterranean highlights dishes and culinary traditions from countries including France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Morocco, Spain, and Turkey, accompanied by wines and cocktails inspired by the region.

Shore Excursions Focus on Local Food Cultures

Complementing the onboard programme are Regent’s Epicurean Explorer Tours, which provide guests with opportunities to experience local food cultures during port visits.

Led by chef instructors, the small-group excursions include market visits, tastings, culinary workshops, and meals at notable restaurants. Many tours continue onboard through demonstrations, tastings, or educational sessions in the Culinary Arts Kitchen.

Among the featured itineraries is a Chef-Led Market Tour & Tapas in Bilbao, available during the Sunlit Iberia voyage departing on 11 May 2027. The excursion includes visits to Mercado de la Ribera and Bilbao’s Old Quarter, followed by Basque-style pintxos, txakoli wine, and a themed tasting back onboard.

A Chef-Led Gastronomy Tour & Tapas Lunch in Barcelona, offered during the Timeless Shores voyage departing on 8 June 2027, explores the city’s renowned food markets including La Boqueria and Santa Caterina Market before concluding with a Catalan-inspired tapas lunch and cava tasting.

Meanwhile, guests sailing on the Prestige of Portugal itinerary can join a Chef-Led Market Tour, Olive Farm & Tapas in Palma de Mallorca, which includes a visit to Olivar Market and Treurer olive farm, followed by an onboard olive oil tasting and educational session.

Culinary Travel Continues to Shape Cruise Experiences

Kathryn Kelly, who designed both the Culinary Arts Kitchen programme and the Epicurean Explorer Tours, said the initiative aims to deepen guests’ understanding of global cuisines while providing practical skills that can be recreated at home.

“Our goal is to give guests the opportunity to explore cuisines, ingredients, and culinary traditions inspired by the destinations we visit, while enjoying a fun, social environment where stories and experiences are shared,” she said.

The announcement reflects a broader trend within luxury travel, where culinary experiences have become an increasingly important part of destination discovery. Through a combination of onboard instruction and immersive shore excursions, Regent Seven Seas Cruises aims to connect travellers with local food cultures both at sea and on land.
