July is always brimming with exciting things to discover, especially during the school holiday season! But fear not if you’re stuck working – this month brings a wave of mouthwatering and thrilling new hangout spots for everyone to enjoy.

Jakarta and Bali are culinary travel havens, boasting a constant stream of new openings. From trendy bars popping up every month to hip dessert havens, there’s something for every palate. This July, get ready to embark on a delicious journey with our restaurant radar, guaranteed to make your month more flavorful.

New Restaurants Jakarta

BusyCheese Cafe

The Blok M district seems to never quiet down, with another must-visit spot emerging. BusyCheese Cafe has recently opened and created a sensation on social media. Situated among vintage coffee shops in the Blok M Square area, this cafe opens its doors early at 11 AM. Notable menu highlights include the Cheese Cake, Dulce Choco Black Truffle Cheesecake, along with a diverse selection of coffee and mocktail offerings.

Charkoal

Located in SCBD, Charcoal is a new fine dining restaurant that embraces the philosophy of primitive cooking, utilizing wood, smoke, and fermentation processes to enhance the flavors of each dish. Helmed by Chef Adhitia, the culinary journey features a 14-course and 17-course tasting menu, with each dish rich in texture and bold in flavor.

Cosmo Pony Jakarta

Set to be the most anticipated cocktail bar opening in Southeast Asia next year, Cosmo Pony is a joint venture with Indonesia’s The Union Group, and will be located within the Grand Hyatt Jakarta, a long-standing premier address in the heart of the city.

Doeun

Located in Menteng, DOEUN prides itself as a premium Korean BBQ restaurant. It offers high-quality selected meats such as US Beef and Iberico Pork. Chef Doeun meticulously curates the menu, presenting both traditional and fusion Korean dishes. Highlights include Woodae galbi, Diamond Cut GaGalbi, Potato Truffle Jeon, Yukheo, and more.

Dou Donut

The donut craze remains fervent, with Dou Donut being the latest addition in town. Helmed by the same group behind Mookie’s, they boast 10 unique flavors including Berry & Chocolate Kurl, Lemon Meringue, Earl Grey & Apricot, and Honeycomb Caramel Miso. Inspired by the viral Japanese Pumpkin Brioche, these fluffy donuts are also available for online ordering. 

Kirin Bar

At Kirin, everyone can savor tasty finger foods, share drinks, and explore a special collection of Japanese gins and cocktails in a relaxed, mature atmosphere perfect for chilling and enjoying time together. Kirin Bar proudly stands as Kelapa Gading’s inaugural speakeasy bar.

Lucky Peach Dinner

From the creators of Umami Issues comes Lucky Peach Diner, a Hong Kong-style diner serving beloved comfort food. Located in the bustling Cikajang area, their menu boasts a flavorful selection including Sichuan Mala Chicken, Mala Black Mussels, HK Omelette Rice with Soy Buttermilk Chicken Chop, and much more.

Miss Marly

Miss Marly, a vibrant dining destination specializing in English brunch and Asian cuisine, is brightening up West Jakarta. Helmed by duo owners Chef Patrese Vito and Chiria Leozha, the restaurant offers a delightful array of British brunch classics such as Baked Eggs Cocotte and Londoner Bacon Benedict, alongside Asian favorites like Hearty Beef Noodle Soup and Spicy Lap Cheong Fried Rice. New Restaurants Bali

Arriba

Located in Ubud with a stunning view of the Sayan forest, Arriba seamlessly blends Latin American spirits with Indonesian ingredients. The result? Intriguing drinks such as the Klepon Colada and the Diablo Caliente. Pair these signature cocktails with refreshing ceviche and savory arepas grilled over charcoal, inspired by the lively street food scenes of Latin America. Arriba celebrates authentic flavors and traditions, offering a unique dining experience that harmoniously merges two vibrant culinary worlds. 

Barō Pizzeria

From the creators of Baro Bakery, Barō Pizzeria emerged as Canggu’s newest pizza haven. Known for its chewy crust, proper dough, and fresh toppings, indulge in exciting flavors such as their Mushroom pizza with bechamel, enoki, shimeji, shiitake, parmesan, and frisée. Complete your experience with a selection of natural wines available at the venue.

Chupacabras

Located in Ubud, the modern South American restaurant shares its space with Arriba Bar. The restaurant pays homage to the timeless flavors of South America by using only prime meats, blending old-world traditions with modern innovations, and infusing some traditional recipes with an Indonesian twist. Guests can indulge in premium meat cuts of the highest quality, cooked over a two-meter-long Argentinian brick wood-fire grill. Chef Mauro Santarelli, whose Argentinean roots fuel his passion, has crafted a menu that captures the essence of his upbringing and travels around the continent.

Fu House

Fu House serves a modern Thai feast with bold flavors. Located on the bustling streets of Seminyak, the restaurant is the latest establishment by Project Black Hospitality. With Executive Chef Lance Mueller and Head Chef I Putu Agus Armen at the helm, the restaurant offers innovative Thai culinary delights like Krathong Thong with Dry Fish Curry, Beef Larb with Burnt Rice Crisp, and many more.

Okome Japanese Tonkatsu

This humble spot in Seminyak serves heartwarming Japanese Tonkatsu. You can look forward to a variety of katsu dishes, including Pork Chop Cutlet, Katsu Curry, Soba Udon with Tonkatsu, and many more.

Rocco's Hot Subs and Sandos

Roocco’s Hot Subs and Sandos, a new breakfast spot in Bali, offers a taste of New York with its exciting sandwiches. The menu features classic sourdough toasties such as the Reuben sandwich with pastrami, Tuna Melt, and Grilled Cheese. Additionally, you can enjoy their selection of Kaiser Rolls, including options like Ham & Cream Cheese and Spicy Bacon & Scramble.

Waatu

Waatu is a relaxed yet thoughtfully designed eatery in Uluwatu by Chef James Viles, drawing inspiration from local Indonesian archipelago ingredients cooked over coals. 

Wilhelmina Deli

Another new breakfast spot has emerged in Canggu. Wilhelmina is an artisanal modern deli serving classic breakfast from 7 AM to 3 PM. Offering a modern twist on deli classics with curated goods and daily homemade bread, Wilhelmina promises to elevate your breakfast experience with fresh, high-quality ingredients and unique flavors.
