For some people, coffee has become a favorite drink to increase concentration before work. For me, my day wouldn’t be complete without a cup of coffee. As a coffee lover, I prefer cappuccinos, and these are often served with hearts or swans on top. Quite typical if you ask me.
My journey to find unique coffee shops continues. Recently, I found a TikTok video that caught my attention. Clean Canteen, a Korean cafe located at Pacific Place in SCBD serves a coffee menu with your favorite idol’s face printed on it. As a coffee lover as well as a K-pop fan, I didn’t want to miss visiting this café.
Intrigued by the current viral café, I visited a few days ago for brunch. The café’s aesthetic with pink nuances caught my attention. This cafe is divided into two areas, one above and one below. The pink color and various plant ornaments dominate the cafe. I immediately ordered a cappuccino with my favorite K-Pop star printed on the top. Rossy, one of the servers here, said that the printed latte art had been around since the café opened. It just went viral recently after K-Pop fans created content using photos of their idols. And this, I too was a willing victim.
They obviously don’t just print photos of K-Pop stars, you can also print photos of yourself, your family, your pets, and more. It just takes 10-15 minutes for your printed cappuccino or latte. The second dish I ordered was Wiggle Pancake with Cheese Cake flavor. Just like coffee, you can also print photos on these pancakes. However, you have to be patient because the process of making these pancakes takes about 25 minutes. There is a special package if you want to order pancakes and coffee, at IDR 120,000 (not including tax).
Finally, my coffee and pancakes arrived. When they arrived, my heart skipped a beat! There they were, my idols right in front of me. My cappuccino had BTS Jungkook on it and Black Pink Jisoo on the pancakes. The cappuccino I ordered was rich in foam with a neat photo printed on it. Although it’s a shame that I must stir the beautifully printed photo, the blend of rich foam and decadent coffee made the overall experience worth it.
Next is the beautiful pancakes with cream cheese flavor. Pancakes have a fluffy texture when cut. Contrary to what I expected, these pancakes had the sweet and sour taste of blueberries. There is also the addition of Biscoff crumble which made these pancakes even richer in texture. This dish consists of three stacked pancakes that make me quite full when I finish eating them.
Not only providing coffee and dessert, but this cafe also provides a variety of dishes. Some of the food on their menu include various salads, Indonesian dishes, Asian dishes, and so on.
Overall it was an exciting experience for me, where can I find a cup of coffee and pancakes with my idol’s photo on it except at this cafe? If you want to visit, the servers suggest making a reservation before you come because of the many guests, especially if you want to come at lunch or on the weekend.
