The Langham, Jakarta is introducing a new afternoon tea at ALICE by Tom Aikens, bringing contemporary pastry creations by Sean Hu, Executive Pastry Chef Asia-Pacific at Langham Hospitality Group, to the hotel’s afternoon tea offering.

Available from 17 October 2026, the new menu draws on The Langham’s long association with afternoon tea. The Langham London has served afternoon tea since 1865, and the Jakarta hotel’s new offering takes the tradition into a contemporary setting through a combination of savoury dishes, pastries and locally sourced ingredients.

Under the direction of Chef Sean Hu, alongside Chef Tantri and Chef Refky, the menu features savoury selections including Hachis Parmentier, Tuna Cone, Chicken Harissa and Roast Cauliflower.

The pastry selection brings together flavours including pomelo, mango and vanilla from Sulawesi, alongside combinations such as Spiced Chocolate Flower, Genmaicha Brown Rice N Yuzu, Date Me in Vanilla, and Lime Basil N Olive Oil. The menu also includes The Langham’s signature Pink Cookie and freshly baked vanilla and Earl Grey scones.

Several individual cakes are also available as part of the selection, including White Mountain, Popcorn Night, Pink Guava and Oolong Tea St. Honoré, Matcha Tofu Sesame and Grapefruit, and Nyangbo and Orange Chocolate Tart.

Among them is White Mountain, Chef Sean’s signature creation, which has been reworked with ube for this menu. The adaptation brings one of his established pastry creations together with an ingredient that has become increasingly popular in Jakarta.

Chef Sean Hu said the new menu was developed around the relationship between individual flavours and the overall afternoon tea experience. “Afternoon tea is a beautiful expression of craftsmanship, where every element has its own character yet comes together as part of a greater experience. For this menu, I wanted to explore the harmony of flavours, textures and ingredients while respecting the elegance of this longstanding tradition. My hope is that each creation offers guests a moment of discovery, whether through a familiar flavour presented in a new way or an unexpected combination that leaves a lasting impression,” said Sean Hu, Executive Pastry Chef, Asia-Pacific, Langham Hospitality Group.

The new afternoon tea is available at ALICE by Tom Aikens, The Langham, Jakarta, from 17 October 2026. It is priced at IDR 998,000++ for two people, with an enhanced option at IDR 1,368,000++ for two people that includes one copy of The Langham Afternoon Tea Book.
