Braud has carried its bread culture a little further from home, opening its first international outlet in Kyoto. The new space, called Braud Pocket Kyoto, began welcoming guests in early October 2026 in Kawaramachi, one of the city’s busiest central districts.
The format is intentionally small, designed as a “pocket” version of Braud that fits into everyday routines. While compact, the menu reflects the same spirit that has shaped the brand’s growth from a home bakery in Bali into a network of cafes and bakeries across Indonesia.
At the heart of the offering are focaccia sandwiches, each with its own character. Vegan Focaccia layers roasted eggplant, zucchini, tomato, and pesto for a plant‑based option. Beef & Pickle combines beef pastrami with Emmental, mozzarella, gherkin, and rocket. Cheese & Cold Cuts pairs chicken ham with burrata, honey mustard, honey, and rocket. For those who prefer the bread itself to take center stage, focaccia toppings are kept simple: blueberry and strawberry with a light glaze, tomato and red onion with oregano oil, or rosemary with sea salt.
Breakfast plates and freshly baked goods round out the menu, while the bar is led by Tokyo‑based Matcha Passport, bringing its perspective on Japanese tea and matcha to the space.
Set in a lively neighborhood often filled with visitors, Braud Pocket Kyoto represents a new chapter for the brand. It carries forward the same heart that began in Bali, now finding a place in Japan with a mix of familiar flavors and touches shaped for its new surroundings.
