Visiting Singapore is always a delightful experience, and this upcoming trip holds a special significance as it marks my first overseas adventure since the pandemic, so saying I’m excited is an understatement.
Singapore’s vibrant dining culture is well-known, offering many trending cuisines that cater to every palate. It’s no wonder that many Indonesians flock to Singapore, seeking unforgettable culinary journeys. With an impressive nine restaurants earning top spots in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, alongside renowned Michelin-starred and celebrity chef establishments, the culinary scene in Singapore knows no boundaries.
During my trip, I was thrilled to discover that Marina Bay Sands, an iconic Singaporean landmark, hosts a captivating culinary and wine festival. From May 15th to May 28th, this festival invites guests to embark on a gastronomic adventure.
With over 80 dining destinations to explore, it is evident that more than a mere single day at this expansive mall would be needed. From delectable breakfast options to mouthwatering snacks and unforgettable dinner experiences, I present my curated list of dining recommendations at Marina Bay Sands. Get ready to savor the flavors and indulge in an epicurean journey that will leave you craving more.
FoodieS Guide to Marina Bay Sands
AVENUE Lounge
AVENUE Lounge is a hidden gem that exudes an irresistible charm, inviting you to enter a world of intimacy and sophistication. During my visit, I was captivated by a unique surprise at AVENUE Lounge—a part of the venue had been transformed into an enchanting wine and champagne cave, a hidden treasure exclusive to the festival.
With an exquisite selection of classic and original bespoke cocktails, AVENUE Lounge offers a masterful creation that tantalizes the taste buds and transports you to a realm of flavor. The tantalizing bar bites menu awaits as you sip on these carefully crafted concoctions, offering culinary delights like Truffle Waffle Fries, Tuna Tartare Tacos, and Wagyu Sliders.
Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer
Famously known for their CrazyShake® milkshakes, dining at Black Tap is truly a memorable experience. They offer a range of classic American comfort foods, such as craft burgers, chicken wings, salads, French fries, crispy onion rings, and more. Each dish is served in satisfying portions, and the menu offers various selections. You can choose from classic all-American burgers to more unique options like the Wagyu steakhouse burger or the Falafel burger. One of my favorites is the Greg Norman burger: a 1/2 pound wagyu beef burger topped with house buttermilk-dill, blue cheese, and arugula. No wonder this dish has been a three-time People’s Choice Award winner at the NYC Wine & Food Festival!
No trip to Black Tap is complete without indulging in their famous CrazyShake® milkshakes, especially if you have a sweet tooth. These massive milkshakes are blissfully saccharine and come in various tempting flavors. Picture a giant chocolate biscuit perched on top or a slice of cake as garnish! These milkshakes are perfect for sharing (unless you’re up for the challenge of finishing one all by yourself!).
Bread Street Kitchen & Bar
The view of Marina Bay Sands’ The Shoppes is always intriguing, both from the outside and inside. One particular place that has piqued my curiosity since my last visit is Bread Street Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay. The restaurant’s glass pane overlooking the Singapore River provides an excellent spot for a relaxing lunch, allowing you to escape from the scorching sun.
Having made numerous television appearances and boasting Michelin-starred restaurants, Chef Gordon Ramsay is a well-established figure in the culinary world. At Bread Street Kitchen, his menu showcases a delightful array of traditional British European dishes, including renowned favorites like Beef Wellington, Fish & Chips, Roasted Cod, and an enticing variety of other delectable options.
The Beef Wellington, in particular, stands out as an iconic dish with its thick-cut, juicy beef perfectly accompanied by vegetables and mashed potatoes. However, what truly lingers in my mind is the Sticky Toffee Pudding! This dessert is a delightful treat, containing a delectably sweet flavor and a rich, fudgy texture. It is a must-try.
KOMA Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar
KOMA, a Japanese restaurant and sushi bar conceptualized by Tao Group Hospitality, presents a captivating modern take on Japanese cuisine. As you step inside, you are greeted by a stunning 20-meter passageway adorned with vibrant orange arches reminiscent of Kyoto’s Fushimi Inari Shrine.
The menu takes a bold and distinctive approach, showcasing original creations highlighting Japan’s finest and freshest seasonal ingredients. KOMA has everything, whether you crave sashimi, robatayaki, or an exquisite omakase experience.
Highly recommended dishes include the tantalizing Salmon Pillow and the interactive D.I.Y. Spicy Tuna. For meat enthusiasts, the A5 Wagyu Beef Tenderloin or the Hobayaki Snow-Aged Niigata Wagyu Ribeye promises a memorable indulgence.
While the fresh sashimi and succulent wagyu selection are certainly highlights for a delightful dinner, KOMA’s desserts should be noticed. The KOMA Signature Dessert Omakase steals the show with its impressive presentation, offering a satisfying assortment of delights, including cheesecake, fruit platters, ice cream, banana sorbet, mochi, chocolates, and more.
