Following a surprise underground party in the tunnels of Blok M, Monkey Shoulder returned to Jakarta with another unexpected experience—this time transforming The Newsroom, a coffee shop in Kemang, into a lively night-time venue. The second installment of the brand’s Make It Monkey campaign turned the space from coffee bar to dance floor, uniting whisky, caffeine, and music under one roof.

The event marked another unconventional celebration from Monkey Shoulder, a Scotch whisky known for its playful, rule-breaking spirit. In collaboration with Radio Rumah Oma, the night featured a secret DJ set with an unannounced lineup, reimagining The Newsroom as the city’s most surprising party destination.

“When it comes to having a great time, Jakarta never fails to disappoint, and today it’s only been made better with Monkey Shoulder, bringing nothing but delicious mixes and good vibes, no matter where in the city you may be. After all, who said you couldn’t throw a party in a cafe at night?” said Brendon Khoo, Southeast Asia Brand Ambassador for Monkey Shoulder.

Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed Coffee-Whisky Cocktails crafted by Brendon Khoo in collaboration with Niko Saputra, Head Barista of The Newsroom, and Wawan Kurniawan, Indonesia Brand Ambassador for Monkey Shoulder. The drinks highlighted the blendability of Monkey Shoulder, designed specifically for cocktails and open to creative twists.

In addition to the cocktails and music, the event included a Custom Garment Station, a Spin the Wheel activation with exclusive merch and challenges, and a carefree, social atmosphere that embodied Monkey Shoulder’s brand ethos: real fun without a script.

From a party in a tunnel to a late-night café takeover, Monkey Shoulder continues to show that good times don’t need a playbook. The Make It Monkey campaign is a tribute to a generation that values authenticity, spontaneity, and a fresh take on whisky culture—proving once again that the best moments often happen when you least expect them.
