As the largest desserts and pastry festival in Indonesia, the Jakarta Dessert Week (JDW) festival has held and invited various restaurants, bakeries, and other merchants throughout the town to specially create menus for the week according to theme each year since 2019. This year, JDW launched its first Dessert Markt, a pop-up event for dessert and pastry at ASHTA District (Upper Marketplace, L2), SCBD, Jakarta. The Dessert Markt will last for two months, from 26 January 2023 to 26 March 2023, every day from 10.00 to 22.00 WIB.
Dessert Markt displays various desserts specially curated by the Jakarta Dessert Week team. Twelve brands are joining in the first period (January-February): Sinamon, Eskimomo, Bodas Dessert Bar, Enchanté Patisserie, Doughzen, Celap Celup, Furuto Sando, Arkamaya Artisan Cakery, Hokkaido Baby, Lococo Creamery, Maiku Tiramisu, and Monokuro. Kumala Home & Kitchen also opened a booth for those looking for cooking and baking equipment. Apart from various desserts tenants, visitors can also enjoy various events like cooking demos and workshops during the period.
The Dessert Markt is also an incubator for brands and dessert industry players wishing to enter the retail sector. “Dessert Markt is our effort to build a festival extension which we have done every year since 2019. We hope this platform can become a strategic tool for dessert brand owners to reach more customers and eventually enter retail,” said Primo Rizky, co-op founder of Jakarta Dessert Week. The platform has also received support from the government by being named part of the Kharisma Event Nusantara – Kemenparekraf RI.
Through Dessert Markt, JDW hopes to continue the event regularly and introduce more brands and merchants so that more players can have opportunities to grow their businesses. “In line with Ashta’s commitment to continuously support Indonesian’s creative industries, we are very pleased to be the host of the Dessert Markt. We hope that the creative industry, especially artisan dessert local brands, can continue to grow,” said Alexander H. Kusuma, CEO of ASRI (Agung Sedayu Realestat Indonesia by Agung Sedayu Group).
As part of platform activation, Dessert Markt presents a stamp collection Dine & Win program. Through the program, ASHTA District 8 visitors will get a stamp every time they shop at Dessert Markt merchants and other participating ASHTA District 8 merchants. After collecting five stamps, visitors can place their cards in the raffle box and have the opportunity to win prizes for KitchenAid and Kumala Home & Kitchen products. The winner will be announced on March 1st and April 1st, 2023, via Instagram Live @jakartadessertweek.
