Langham Hospitality Group has named renowned British chef Michel Roux as the latest participant in The Langham Hotels & Resorts’ global brand campaign, Your Story. Our Legacy., a series that explores the personal journeys and creative influences of prominent figures across culture, design, and gastronomy.

The latest chapter of the campaign follows Roux through London, the city where he built much of his culinary career, as he reflects on the people, places, and experiences that continue to inspire his approach to food.

A member of one of Britain’s most influential culinary families, Roux spent more than three decades leading Le Gavroche, the landmark restaurant founded by his father and uncle. Throughout its history, the restaurant achieved several milestones for British dining, becoming the first restaurant in the United Kingdom to earn one, two, and three Michelin stars.

Beyond the restaurant world, Roux has also become a familiar figure through television programmes including Kitchen Impossible, Michel Roux’s French Country Cooking, and Five Star Kitchen: Britain’s Next Great Chef.

A Decade-Long Relationship with The Langham

Roux’s involvement in the campaign also reflects his long-standing relationship with The Langham, London, where he has served as a culinary consultant for more than a decade.

During that time, he has contributed to various aspects of the hotel’s food and beverage programme, including restaurant concepts, in-room dining offerings, and its signature afternoon tea experience. His influence can also be seen at The Wigmore, the hotel’s modern British tavern, which has become one of London’s notable gastropub destinations.

According to Langham Hospitality Group Chief Executive Officer Bob van den Oord, Roux’s commitment to culinary excellence and his longstanding association with the hotel made him a natural fit for the campaign.

Exploring the London That Inspires Him

The campaign film offers a glimpse into Roux’s life beyond the kitchen, showcasing some of the South London establishments he frequently visits.

Among the featured stops are Trinity, the Michelin-starred restaurant located near his home, as well as neighbourhood favourites including bakery Miel and cheese specialist La Fromagerie. Together, the locations paint a portrait of the London food scene that continues to influence Roux’s cooking philosophy.

For Roux, great food is often rooted in simplicity rather than complexity.

“Comfort food for me is something that’s been lovingly cooked. And it doesn’t have to be fanciful. That’s what I want to transmit in my food, especially at The Wigmore,” he said.

Continuing the Langham Luminaries Series

Launched in 2025, Your Story. Our Legacy. serves as The Langham’s global storytelling platform, highlighting individuals whose careers and personal experiences reflect the brand’s focus on creativity, craftsmanship, and cultural connection.

Known collectively as Langham Luminaries, the campaign’s participants include figures from across the worlds of music, entertainment, and hospitality. Roux joins a roster that already features musical theatre performer Ayanga, Grammy Award-winning violinist Joshua Bell, and television personality Dannii Minogue.

With Roux’s addition, the campaign turns its focus to gastronomy, exploring how one of Britain’s most recognised chefs continues to draw inspiration from the city he has called home for decades.
