BEES BAR by NARISAWA in Tokyo’s Minami-Aoyama neighborhood is hosting its first concept pop-up, “Residencia Mexicana en Tokio,” in collaboration with Edo Kobayashi Hospitality. Running from 20 August through the end of October 2026, the limited-time residency will transform the bar into a Mexican cantina centered on the country’s food and bar culture.

Opened in 2018, BEES BAR is Chef Yoshihiro Narisawa’s casual bar, created as a more relaxed setting for guests to explore rare spirits from around the world. The chef’s longstanding interest in Latin American bar culture has also led to the development of one of Japan’s largest private tequila collections, which became one of the inspirations behind the bar.

For the residency, Narisawa is working with Edo López, founder of Edo Kobayashi Hospitality. López opened Japanese restaurant Rokai in Mexico City in 2013, while his hospitality group now operates restaurants, bars and hotels across Mexico City, Madrid, Miami and Tokyo.

Rather than adapting Mexican cuisine to Japanese tastes, the collaboration aims to present Mexican food and bar traditions in Tokyo while using seasonal Japanese ingredients. Under Narisawa’s supervision, the menu features traditional Mexican formats including tostadas, tacos and enmoladas, prepared with Japanese seafood, vegetables and meats sourced from producers across the country.

The food selection also includes tostada, tiradito and taco-inspired dishes, with the menu available exclusively during the residency.

The beverage program focuses on Mexican spirits and original cocktails, including drinks made with Siete Leguas, which makes its Japan debut through the residency. Seasonal Japanese fruits including white peach, mango and passion fruit are also incorporated into the cocktail selection.

Beyond the food and drinks, López has curated a music program to play through BEES BAR’s high-fidelity sound system, adding another element of Mexican bar culture to the temporary space.

“Residencia Mexicana en Tokio” runs from 20 August through the end of October 2026 at BEES BAR by NARISAWA, Aoyama Fusion Building B1F, 2-14-15 Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo.
