Hong Kong café brand Elephant Grounds has officially opened in Jakarta, bringing its specialty coffee, all-day dining, fresh bakery, and pet-friendly café experience to the city.

Founded in Hong Kong in 2013, Elephant Grounds has grown around the idea of the café as an everyday gathering place. Its cafés combine specialty coffee, brunch, bakery offerings, and a casual atmosphere designed for everything from morning coffee and business meetings to weekend brunches and afternoon catch-ups.

The Jakarta opening marks the brand’s latest expansion in Asia, adapting its Hong Kong roots to a local setting while retaining its focus on quality coffee, approachable food, and community. The space is designed as an all-day destination where guests can work, dine, meet friends, or simply spend time with their pets.

“At Elephant Grounds, we believe a great café should be more than somewhere to grab a coffee. It should be a place people can return to every day — whether for a morning pick-me-up, a business catch-up, a leisurely brunch, or an afternoon break,” said Joshua Wee, General Manager of Elephant Grounds.

Coffee, Brunch and Bakery Throughout the Day

Coffee remains central to the Elephant Grounds experience, with the brand’s coffee program built around selected beans and in-house roasting expertise. The roasting approach focuses on producing balanced and consistent coffees suited to different occasions, from flat whites in the morning to iced coffee later in the day.

The Jakarta menu brings several of the brand’s established favorites, including the Ice Cream Sandwich, Fish Sando, Corned Beef Hash, and its Donburi selection. The all-day menu also includes lighter brunch options such as an Acai Yogurt Bowl, Avocado Toast, and Pancakes, alongside freshly baked pastries.

The café’s contemporary interiors are paired with a relaxed, pet-friendly setting, reflecting Elephant Grounds’ focus on creating a space where guests can stay beyond a quick coffee stop. The Jakarta location is positioned as an easygoing neighborhood café, operating from morning coffee through afternoon gatherings.

With its arrival in Jakarta, Elephant Grounds continues its expansion beyond Hong Kong while bringing its interpretation of café culture to a new market, centered on coffee, food, and the everyday rituals built around them.
