ORIJIN Japanese Dining officially marked its grand opening unveiling a renewed restaurant concept at Sari Pacific Jakarta, Autograph Collection. The reopening signals a new chapter for one of Jakarta’s longstanding Japanese dining establishments, whose history dates back nearly five decades.

The grand opening brought together media representatives, industry partners, and invited guests for an evening celebrating Japanese culture and cuisine. The programme featured a traditional koto performance, followed by a taiko drumming presentation and a Kagami Biraki ceremony, a Japanese tradition symbolising prosperity and new beginnings. The event concluded with a geisha dance performance, reflecting the restaurant’s commitment to preserving Japanese cultural traditions while embracing a contemporary identity.

Continuing a Legacy That Began in 1976

Originally established in 1976, ORIJIN has long been recognised as one of Jakarta’s pioneering Japanese restaurants. Derived from the word “origin” or “original,” the restaurant’s name reflects its philosophy of honouring the source and story behind every culinary experience.

Today, the restaurant enters a new phase under the leadership of Chef Tomoaki Ito, whose connection to the venue spans generations. While preserving several long-standing favourites, the refreshed menu also introduces new dishes that reflect the restaurant’s evolving culinary direction.

Among the signature dishes that remain on the menu are Robatayaki Gindara, Hamachi Kama, and Japanese Wagyu Miyazaki Sirloin A5. New additions include Gindara Misoyaki, Hamachi Kama ORIJIN-age, and Yakiniku Gyu Karubi, offering guests both familiar classics and contemporary interpretations of Japanese cuisine.

The menu also features a selection of appetisers such as Torikawa Ponzu ORIJIN and Gyutan Nikujaga, while desserts include the restaurant’s signature ORIJIN Cheesecake.

A Redesigned Space Inspired by Japanese Hospitality

Alongside its culinary refresh, ORIJIN has introduced a redesigned interior inspired by the atmosphere of a contemporary Japanese home. The space incorporates natural materials, warm lighting, Japanese brickwork, Italian marble, and greenery to create a relaxed dining environment.

Guests can choose from several dining settings, including the main dining room, five private dining rooms, a robatayaki counter, a dedicated sushi bar, and a live teppanyaki counter. The design aims to encourage a slower-paced dining experience while reflecting the principles of Japanese hospitality.

Now officially open, ORIJIN Japanese Dining welcomes guests daily for lunch from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM and dinner from 6:00 PM to 10:30 PM. As the restaurant enters its next chapter, it continues to build on a legacy that has been part of Jakarta’s Japanese dining landscape for nearly 50 years, while introducing a refreshed experience for a new generation of diners.
