The World’s 50 Best Vineyards will stage its 2026 awards programme in Santiago, Chile, marking the first time the annual event will be held in the country. Taking place during the week of 16 November, the programme is organised in partnership with the Government of Santiago, its Regional Corporation, and Grupo Liderazgo.
The annual awards, organised by 50 Best, will reveal its latest ranking of the world’s leading vineyard and winery experiences during a ceremony in Santiago. The event will also feature a multi-day programme highlighting Chile’s wine regions, gastronomy, culture, and tourism.
The move reflects Chile’s growing reputation as one of the world’s leading wine destinations. Santiago serves as the gateway to several of the country’s best-known wine regions, including the Maipo Valley, while the surrounding region is home to more than 40 vineyards open to visitors.
Chile has strengthened its presence in recent editions of the ranking. In 2025, seven Chilean vineyards secured places on The World’s 50 Best Vineyards list, including Almaviva (No. 34) and Viña Santa Rita (No. 41), both located in the Maipo Valley. Vik was also named The World’s Best Vineyard 2025 and The Best Vineyard in South America during last year’s awards in Margaret River, Western Australia.

Claudio Orrego, Governor of Santiago, said hosting the awards supports the region’s ambition to become South America’s leading wine and tourism destination.
“Our region is making steady progress towards becoming the wine and tourism capital of South America, and hosting this international event strengthens our global leadership,” he said. “Santiago is the main gateway to wine tourism in our country, where urban energy and winemaking tradition come together in the Maipo Valley.”
Max Raide, President of Grupo Liderazgo, added that the event provides an opportunity to showcase Chile’s vineyards, local produce, and culinary culture to an international audience.
The World’s 50 Best Vineyards ranking recognises vineyards that offer outstanding visitor experiences, taking into account elements such as hospitality, architecture, cuisine, service, wine, activities, scenery, and overall experience. The list is compiled from votes submitted by more than 700 wine professionals, sommeliers, and travel experts worldwide. Vineyards cannot apply to be included, and sponsors have no influence over the voting process.
The awards have been part of the 50 Best portfolio since 2025, joining the organisation’s global rankings for restaurants, bars, and hotels under publisher William Reed.
