Monkey Shoulder recently stirred up Jakarta’s nightlife with an impromptu party tucked away in the Blok M Hub tunnel area. Without any official setup or stage, the alley transformed with DJs from Salon R&B spinning live, Monkey Shoulder cocktails appearing next to warm bowls of bakmi, and spontaneous games unfolding between strangers.
The drinks flowed freely, reflecting Monkey Shoulder’s smooth and versatile character. Known for its rich notes of honey, orange, and vanilla, the whisky complements both neat sipping and bold mixing. Guests enjoyed cocktails designed to match the energy of the night. Among them, the Monkey Jam Sour, a classic whisky sour with a twist of fruit, delivered balance and brightness. The Lazy Old Fashioned added a cherry citrus finish to the traditional profile, turning a timeless drink into something laid-back and modern. The most lively of the bunch, OMG!—blending orange, Monkey Shoulder, and ginger—stood out for its zesty and refreshing kick.
In collaboration with Bakmi 888, a beloved staple among visitors of Blok M Hub, guests had the chance to enjoy a bowl of comforting bakmi that carried all the warmth of a familiar late-night meal. Paired with Monkey Shoulder’s creative cocktails, each sip added a new layer of flavor—bright, citrusy, and just unexpected enough to spark curiosity. The richness of the noodles and the playful acidity of the whisky drinks came together naturally, creating a rhythm that matched the spontaneity of the evening. It was a meeting of bold flavors and casual indulgence, served in a setting that felt unrehearsed and genuinely fun.
Beyond the music pulsing through the alley and the flavors mingling in each sip and bite, guests found delight in the unexpected. They screen-printed their own Monkey Shoulder-inspired pieces at the custom station, turning fabric into personal keepsakes. Beside that, a cheeky game of spin the wheel offered quirky prizes like sling bags, bucket hats, even sunglasses and speakers. The energy was casual, immediate, and refreshingly unfiltered.
“One of my favourite places to visit, Jakarta has amazing nightlife, so how does one shake up nights in an already awesome city? With Monkey Shoulder, of course! No need to plan your nights out, just show up and we’ll take care of the rest. Monkey Shoulder is made for mixing and that’s exactly what we’ll do with your nights out!”, says Brendon Khoo, Southeast Asia Brand Ambassador for Monkey Shoulder.
The next Make It Monkey event will take place at The Newsroom by Manual in Kemang, a cozy café and creative hub. On August 1st, the space will host whisky and coffee cocktail collaborations alongside DJ sets, once again blending Monkey Shoulder’s whisky with unexpected pairings and a familiar atmosphere. In each of these pop-up moments, Monkey Shoulder reminds Jakarta that great nights out aren’t scheduled—they happen in the mix of flavorful food, vibrant drinks, and the kind of ease you only find when the vibe isn’t forced.
