Yialos has opened Yialos Taverna Menteng, its latest restaurant concept located on Jalan Pasuruan in Central Jakarta, expanding the brand’s presence following its debut in Senopati in 2023. The new venue introduces a broader interpretation of Greek–Mediterranean dining, with a larger space, expanded menu, and additional dining formats.

The opening marks the next stage for the brand under the Dear Butter Group, building on the more casual, street-style approach of Yialos Grill & Souvlaki with a concept designed for longer-form dining and group occasions.

A Menu Focused on Seafood and Regional Flavours

The menu at Yialos Taverna Menteng draws from Greek and Mediterranean cuisines, with an emphasis on seafood, grilled dishes, and shareable plates. New additions include dishes such as Spicy Prawn Vongole, Kalamarakia Sti Skara (grilled baby squid), Greek fish soup (psarosoupa), and Marides Tiganites (fried whitebait).

Other offerings include salt-baked fish, grilled fish, and Kotopoulo Lemonato, alongside a selection of crudo and vegetable-based dishes. A number of signature items from the original concept remain on the menu, including grilled octopus, souvlaki, meat platters, and Athenian lobster pasta.

A dedicated seafood station forms part of the dining experience, allowing guests to select fresh seafood for preparation to order, reflecting a format commonly found in Mediterranean coastal dining.

Expanded Space and Dining Formats

The Menteng location introduces a larger layout compared to its predecessor, with additional facilities including four VIP rooms, a playground, and a nursery room. The design aims to accommodate a range of dining occasions, from smaller gatherings to family-oriented visits.

The restaurant operates daily, with opening hours from 08:00 to 22:00 Sunday to Thursday, and 08:00 to 23:00 on Friday and Saturday.

Brand Direction and Culinary Approach

According to Founder and Chef Bobby Handoko, the new concept builds on the original vision behind Yialos while expanding its scope. “When I first opened Yialos Grill & Souvlaki, I wanted to bring the simplicity, quality, and communal spirit of Greek cuisine to Jakarta, flavors and memories that have stayed with me since my university days in Melbourne and my travels through Greece,” he said. “With Taverna Menteng, we finally have the space and the soul to take that vision further. A bigger kitchen, a deeper menu, and a home that welcomes families, friends, and food lovers the way a true Greek taverna should.”

The opening reflects a broader shift in the brand’s direction, combining its existing menu with a wider range of dishes and a more structured dining format. During its soft opening period, the restaurant is also offering complimentary dessert as part of its launch.

With the new Menteng location, Yialos expands its positioning in Jakarta’s dining scene, focusing on Mediterranean flavours, seafood-driven dishes, and a format designed for shared dining.
