The esteemed annual international whisky event, Whisky Live, which Whisky Magazine organizes, has made its debut in Macau this year. Building on its successful launch in Hong Kong in 2016, Whisky Magazine has teamed up with SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) to present the first-ever Whisky Live Macau 2024 from October 11 to 13 at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau. This much-anticipated event will showcase over 40 exhibitors presenting exceptional whiskies and culinary delights from around the world.

Located in the prime Cotai area, the expansive 20,000-square-foot venue at the Grand Lisboa Palace will offer visitors an unparalleled opportunity to sample the world’s most popular and rare whiskies. Attendees will also be able to interact with producers, distillers, and whisky experts. Whisky Live Macau will feature four distinct themed areas, including whisky and spirit tastings, food pairings, live music performances, and a cocktail garden, each offering a unique experience for attendees.

The Grand Pavilion on the fourth floor will host over 300 whiskies featuring renowned and independent bottlers from Scotland, Ireland, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Japan. Many of these selections are landing in Macau for the first time, offering visitors a rare opportunity to explore the unique profiles and rich flavors of exceptional whiskies. The organizers have curated a special bottle from the Hokkaido Atsushi Distillery to celebrate this landmark event, aged in pear barrels. Limited to only 130 bottles bundled with tickets and 130 bottles on-site, this collectible single-barrel whisky, distilled in 2020, showcases the distinctive character of Hou Shore, with refreshing citrus and marine notes complemented by the terroir of Hokkaido.

Another highlight of Whisky Live Macau 2024 is the outdoor cocktail garden, located at Jardim Secreto on the resort’s third floor. The green oasis will feature a variety of spirits from the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, and more. Celebrated local and Hong Kong senior bartenders will create special cocktails each night, while resident D.J. performances will provide participants with expertly crafted cocktails in a picturesque European garden, adding a unique dimension to the whisky experience.

Both The Grand Pavilion and the cocktail garden will offer exquisite food pairings. In addition to the exceptional delicacies prepared by the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau team, premium meats, cheeses, and seafood from the U.K. and Scotland will also be available to complement the whisky selections.

As a key feature of Whisky Live, live musical performances will add to the atmosphere. In the stunning Grand Pavilion, Night Pass holders can enjoy a series of jazz performances from talented artists from Hong Kong and Macau, including the famous Ted Lo Quartet and the Dr. Joao Mascarenhas Quartet, allowing guests to enjoy exceptional whisky alongside captivating music.

In addition to the exhibition, Whisky Live Macau will host a series of masterclasses in the resort’s second-floor meeting rooms. Fourteen exclusive sessions will be led by global whisky experts, including Mr. Jacky Zhang, the China Brand Ambassador for Suntory; Mr. Koichiro Shirai, President and CEO of SAKURAO Brewery & Distillery; Mr. Hiroaki Nakamura, Sales Manager for Mars Whisky; and Mr. Stephen Mack, Founder of Asia Wine Service & Education Centre. The masterclasses will cover brand stories, whisky tasting by region, and the brewing and maturation processes.
