Lightning up the bustling Berawa bar scene is the chic and contemporary Milano Restaurant and Bar, quietly tucked by the entrance of Berawa beach in Canggu. Located below White Goose Boutique Hotel, this Milanese-inspired restaurant and bar offer timeless dishes that are “authentic, simple, and fulfilling,” with influences from different regions of Italy.

Milano Restaurant and Bar recently celebrated its second year, inviting patrons over for some tipsy tipples of free-flow Negroni from the barrel, with comfort Italian food to match.

Two years seems like a short time, but this restaurant and bar has successfully won over the hearts and stomachs of countless diners early on. The Canggu scene may have grown exponentially, with massive day clubs popping up within the community, but Milano Restaurant and Bar remains to be a favorite hangout for the hip and trendy Canggu crowd.

With its sleek and sophisticated décor, to its delicious, freshly made Italian dishes, as well as its hard-to-miss cocktail bar, Milano Restaurant, and Bar continues to move forward as they serve the local community and discerning guests.

It’s Not Italian If It’s Not Comfort Food.

There’s so much to say about this quaint dining spot, and of course, the highlight of any restaurant is its food. Created by the talented Chef Manuel Polin, he brings his high-profile culinary experience to Milano’s menu. He focuses on using ingredients that are locally produced not only to maintain freshness in taste and quality but to support the local community with his Italian creations.

Milano Restaurant and Bar is definitely the place to go for aperitivo, especially with its daily 2-for-1 cocktails from 4-7 pm. With this, they serve sumptuous Aperitivo Gourmet Nibbles to start your evening. From light bites, antipasti cold cuts, pizza, pasta, and generous servings of main course choices, guests usually carry on from aperitivo to late-night dinner and tipples.

Their homemade pasta is also something to look forward to, not to mention their Pizza Napoletana selection with the fluffy Napoli-style dough. From start to finish, there’s a delicious selection to choose from.

The Book of Negroni.

Oh yes, the Negroni. It seems to be a popular drink nowadays, but who’s to blame? It’s always been a great choice for the refined cocktail aficionado.

One might find itself in a conundrum when you flip through Milano’s “Book of Negroni,” featuring 12 types of Negroni, with each that comes with a story to tell. There is of course, the Classic negroni, and there is also the “excellent mistake” Sbagliato negroni, the Indonesian-inspired Pandan, and the intricately prepared Legend of Negroni. Guests can spend the whole evening trying out every Negroni concoction found on the menu.

Guests are welcomed inside this open-air smart casual restaurant with a massive bar in front, seemingly calling out by-passers to stop by for a drink or two, starting off the evening with cool spritzes that match the island vibe.

What’s next?

After two years of serving up the Canggu community and beyond, Milano Restaurant and Bar hopes to continue its advocacy of empowering the local community through collaborations and partnerships with different food and beverage businesses in Indonesia. In the past two years, Milano has brought chefs and bartenders from all over Indonesia to their restaurants.

“We want to continue empowering the community and the businesses through partnerships and collaborations. We’ve brought chefs and mixologists from all over, and we also collaborate with different restaurants and bars all over Indonesia. We want to continue doing that in the next year,” said Noura Ben Salah, Milano’s General Manager, as she spoke with FoodieS.

Whether it’s a fancy date night, meeting up with your colleagues from the industry, or a girls’ night out, Milano Restaurant and Bar serves up comfort Italian food, creative cocktails, and modern Roman vibes.

They’re also open for breakfast from 7-10:30 am. If you’re on your morning walk around Berawa, there’s always a place to go.
