As the anticipation builds for the upcoming announcement of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2024, the extended list featuring bars ranked 51-100 has been unveiled. This marks the eighth consecutive year for this expanded list, which is determined by a voting panel of over 700 industry professionals, including bartenders, drinks writers, and cocktail experts.

This year’s list covers 35 cities across the globe, with notable entries from countries and cities new to the ranking. The United States leads the list with seven bars spread across New York, Miami, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, showcasing the country’s strong presence in the cocktail scene. The UK ranks as the top country in Europe with four bars, while Smoke & Bitters from Hiriketiya makes history as Sri Lanka’s first entry on the list. Additionally, Asia has a substantial representation with 13 bars, including three in Singapore.

Regional Highlights: North America and Latin America

The USA dominates with seven bars, including New York’s renowned Dante (No.79), Katana Kitten (No.80), and Attaboy (No.84). Miami’s Café La Trova (No.66) and Los Angeles’ Thunderbolt (No.64) also make appearances. In Mexico, Tulum’s Arca leads at No.55, while Mexico City adds three entries, including Baltra Bar (No.83) and Rayo (No.87). Canada’s Bar Pompette in Toronto debuts at No.70, and Lima’s Carnaval represents South America at No.69.

European Entries Led by the UK and Eastern Europe

Europe claims 18 spots on the list, with the UK contributing four, including new entries like Kwãnt Mayfair (No.52) and Amaro (No.90). Italy and Greece each boast three entries, such as Athens’ The Clumsies (No.60) and Rome’s Freni e Frizioni (No.53). Eastern Europe holds its ground with Bratislava’s Mirror Bar rising to No.62 and Tirana’s Nouvelle Vague at No.95. Madrid and Copenhagen also add fresh names to the list with Angelita (No.65) and Bird (No.77) respectively.

Asia: Singapore Leads, Sri Lanka Debuts

Singapore tops the Asian entries with three bars, including new spots Cat Bite Club (No.56) and Night Hawk (No.74). Hong Kong follows with two entries, Argo (No.58) and The Savory Project (No.82), while Tokyo features The SG Club (No.54) and The Bellwood (No.89). Making its first-ever appearance, Smoke & Bitters (No.86) in Hiriketiya puts Sri Lanka on the map. Other notable entries include Seoul’s Bar Cham (No.71) and Penrose from Kuala Lumpur (No.98).

Australia, Africa, and the Middle East

Australia sees the return of Cantina OK! in Sydney (No.96) and Above Board in Melbourne (No.100). Representing Africa, Nairobi’s Hero Bar lands at No.75, while Johannesburg’s Sin + Tax climbs to No.81. The Middle East makes an impact with Dubai’s LPM at No.76.

The World’s 50 Best Bars 2024 will be announced on October 22 in Madrid, marking the event’s 16th edition and its return to Europe. This year’s awards celebrate exceptional bars and their contributions to the global hospitality industry. The announcement of the Top 50 will be broadcast live, allowing viewers around the world to join the celebration from 8:25 p.m. local time.
