Indonesian food restaurants are always our favorite choice when we crave something traditional. There are numerous options in Jakarta, ranging from the most authentic to fusion cuisine. If you had to choose one, which restaurant would be your favorite?

Agneya has been serving authentic Indonesian dishes for seven years. In the last quarter of 2024, Chris Janssens and his team began incorporating Peranakan cuisine into their menu to cater to the diverse tastes of their customers. With his expertise in blending various spices and preparing ingredients, they have created 20 new menu items. Some of the most popular dishes include Sapi Bakar Genteng, Kueh Pie Tee, Lamb Osso Bucco, Oseng Sapi Cabe Hijau, Dry Laksa, Cumi Goreng Telur Asin, Crispy Fried Peking Duck, Chargrilled Lemongrass Chicken, and Chargrilled Fish Head Curry.

Agneya truly embodies its name, which translates to “God of Fire” in Sanskrit. This is beautifully illustrated by the dramatic sight of burning wood in the open kitchen, where the chefs skillfully harness the vibrant flames to grill a variety of meats, adding a smoky flavor to their dishes, particularly within their enticing satay menu. Agneya still places a strong emphasis on authentic Indonesian cuisine, highlighted by their signature Gado-Gado, the ever-popular Nasi Goreng, Crispy Fried Eggplant, Sop Buntut, and the favorite Jagung Bakar Keriting served with their own serundeng. Each dish is crafted with care, showcasing the rich culinary heritage of the region while providing a memorable dining experience.
