One of the most highly-anticipated collaborations to be announced within Kuala Lumpur’s culinary scene, Chef Masashi Horiuchi of Potager and Chef Julien Royer of Singapore’s three Michelin Star Odette will come together in a four-hands dinner that has set gourmands, foodies and the industry thrumming with excitement.

Both trailblazers, Chef Masashi and Chef Julien are well-known for their undying love for the terroir, the respect and restraint they show in their approach to cooking, and their philosophy of championing artisanal producers and creatives, making this collaboration a perfect match in ethos and execution.

Besides helming Odette, which was hailed as The Best Restaurant in Asia at The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023 awards, Chef Julien also took home the title of Estrella Damm Chefs’ Choice (the only peer-voted award at the ceremony). In 2022, he was also named “Restaurateur of the Year” by the lauded Les Grandes Tables du Monde. This four-hands dinner will be Chef Julien’s debut in Kuala Lumpur.

Meanwhile, barely six months after opening, Potager – helmed by Chef Masashi, has gone from strength-to-strength, its holistic experience championing the hands that laboured earning it numerous local accolades and making it a must-go restaurant for those living within and visiting Kuala Lumpur.

“I’ve long admired Chef Julien, and it is our honour to host him and his team for the first time here in Malaysia. We very much look forward to sharing the kitchen and seeing what magic we can create together,” says Chef Masashi.

Chef Masashi often speaks of how idyllic days growing and selling vegetables with his grandfather in Fukuoka, Japan has very much influenced his culinary spirit. Similarly, Chef Julien was born into a family of fourth generation farmers in Cantal, France and named Odette after his grandmother as a tribute to her influences in his life and kitchen. It’s no surprise then, that these two chefs have always prized forging lasting relationships with producers within their oeuvre, and have bonded, promising a culinary experience that is not to be missed.
