Lobster Bar & Grill at Island Shangri-La has announced the second chapter of its 2026 Sunday Roast Guest Chef Series, introducing three one-day-only collaborations running from May to July 2026.
The series brings together chefs from across Hong Kong’s dining scene, each reinterpreting the classic British Sunday roast through their own culinary lens. Participating restaurants include Neighborhood (31 May), Leela (28 June), and Cristal Room by Anne-Sophie Pic (19 July), each offering a distinct perspective shaped by their respective cuisines and techniques.
A Three-Course Sunday Roast with Seasonal Variations
At the core of the programme is Lobster Bar & Grill’s signature three-course Sunday roast menu, co-created by Executive Chef Cary Docherty and each guest chef. The experience begins with starters such as demitasse lobster bisque, smoked salmon, and steak tartare, followed by a choice of roast or seafood mains.
Main courses are served with classic accompaniments including duck-fat roasted potatoes and honey-glazed carrots, maintaining the structure of a traditional roast while allowing room for variation across each collaboration. The meal concludes with desserts such as banoffee pie, triple chocolate mud pie, alongside seasonal creations developed for each edition.
Three Guest Chefs, Three Culinary Interpretations
The first collaboration on 31 May welcomes Neighborhood, a one MICHELIN-starred restaurant ranked No.24 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2026. Led by Chef David Lai, the menu is expected to feature European bistro-style dishes, with an emphasis on seasonal produce and shareable formats, including signature items such as seafood rice and salt-baked chicken.
On 28 June, Leela brings a modern Indian perspective under Chef Manav Tuli. The menu explores regional Indian flavours, from tandoor-fired dishes to layered curries, presenting a more refined interpretation of spice-driven cuisine.
The series concludes on 19 July with Cristal Room by Anne-Sophie Pic, recently awarded two MICHELIN stars. Led by Chef Marc Mantovani, the collaboration introduces contemporary French cuisine, focusing on precision, global ingredients, and a more composed approach to the Sunday roast format.
A Collaborative Approach to a Classic Format
Each edition is priced at HK$898 + 10% per guest, with menus developed as one-day-only experiences that highlight both the identity of the guest chef and the foundations of Lobster Bar & Grill’s established Sunday roast tradition.
Through these collaborations, the restaurant continues to position the Sunday roast as a format open to reinterpretation, shaped by different cuisines while retaining its core structure of shared, ingredient-driven dining.
