Social Garden has turned its attention to everyday comfort foods, giving them a fresh treatment that highlights new ways of preparing familiar dishes. The restaurant has introduced five creations under a menu called More Than You Think, which explores Indonesian culinary traditions while presenting them in a modern dining style. The idea is straightforward: familiar meals can reveal unexpected layers when prepared with care and imagination.
One of the highlights is the Wagyu Se’i Signature, inspired by East Indonesia’s smoked beef tradition. Wagyu beef is smoked and served with cassava kecombrang, sambal matah, rice, beef broth, and emping crackers. The mix of smoky meat, aromatic condiments, and crisp textures makes the dish both complex and approachable.
Seafood is given equal attention. The Grilled Barramundi is cooked over charcoal with Sulawesi spices, then paired with sambal rica-rica from Manado and sambal colo-colo. It reflects the bold flavors of coastal cooking. The Lobster Noodle takes a different path, turning a simple noodle dish into something richer. Homemade egg noodles are wok-fried with lobster, prawns, and calamari, then topped with a sunny-side-up egg, pickles, and crackers.
Duck appears in the Roasted Duck with Rice Vermicelli. The vermicelli, made in-house, is served in a duck broth with slices of duck breast and leg, baby bok choy, and sambal ijo. It is a dish that leans into warmth and balance. Fried rice rounds out the menu with the Roa Seafood Fried Rice, which carries the smoky flavor of roa fish and is topped with river prawn, calamari, clams, and prawns, alongside egg, pickles, and crackers.
More Than You Think is not about reinventing food entirely, but about showing how familiar meals can be experienced differently—through homemade noodles, careful smoking, and thoughtful combinations that bring comfort and craft together in the same bowl.
