For one day only, Hendrick’s Gin is bringing back the Cucumber Currency Exchange, where the humble green fruit is transformed into exchangeable monetary units. This exclusive offering from the unique Scottish gin brand is celebrating World Cucumber Day on June 14th, 2024. During ‘Cucumber Hour,’ all gin lovers will have the opportunity to exchange cucumbers for a refreshing Hendrick’s & Tonic at selected official Hendrick’s Gin outlets, while also enjoying the ‘Cucumber Concierge’ service and ‘DIY Cocktail Corner’.

This refreshing gin brand will partner with 150 outlets in Jakarta, Bali, Semarang, Surabaya, and Bandung, including premium bar destinations such as Artesian Bar in Jakarta and FINNS Beach Club in Bali, which has been exclusively selected as the primary bar this year. These two outlets will showcase exclusive Hendrick’s Gin decorations and offer exciting activities such as ‘DIY Cocktail Corner’.

These 150 outlets will receive cucumber as the currency for an exchange of Hendrick’s & Tonic during ‘Cucumber Hour’ from 18:00 WIB – 20:00 WIB in Jakarta and from 16:00 WITA – 19:00 WITA in Bali. Furthermore, the ‘Cucumber Concierge’ will be available in these 150 selected outlets, providing cucumbers to those who don’t bring their own, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the celebration of this special and humble green fruit.

On the other side of the world, this unique experience follows a scientific experiment that is entirely different from Hendrick’s Gin. The experiment involved Hendrick’s Gin scientists and other cucumber scientists, including Graham Brown from the University of Sydney, Australia. The experiment led to an astonishing discovery, revealing that cucumbers can grow larger and more refreshed through unconventional harvesting methods. The findings show that cucumbers respond positively to rock music and dill scent and taste sweeter when wrapped in mini sleeping bags.

Over the past three months, gardening enthusiasts from around the world have built an intimate connection with their cucumbers through this groundbreaking method as they prepare to cultivate them in anticipation of World Cucumber Day. This annual celebration honors the unique green fruit and its extraordinary benefits.

Duncan McRae, the Global Ambassador for Hendrick’s Gin, emphasizes, “In recent years, Hendrick’s has preserved the enigmatic essence of the humble cucumber, highlighting its perfect harmony with our exquisite gin and the delicate Bulgarian rose fragrance.”

“The research conducted by Mr. Brown reveals that the green cucumber is not only intelligent but also responsive. This suggests that humans can develop a meaningful and personal connection with this intriguing fruit, especially when paired with Hendrick’s Gin’s favorite garnish, the cucumber. Envision a world where individuals can trade the greenness of money for the greenness of cucumbers. Let’s cherish this delicate green fruit and, in celebration of World Cucumber Day, let’s promote swapping cucumbers for a refreshing glass of Hendrick’s & Tonic.”
