This year’s Mereren Fest in Bali welcomed something special: a vintage coffee van named Roemah Koffie Van. It’s not just any van—it’s a 1964 Citroën H Van that traveled all the way from Jakarta to join the celebration. For one week until 24 August, you could enjoy fresh Indonesian coffee served directly from this charming mobile café.
The van was carefully restored and turned into a working coffee bar. Inside, there’s a full espresso setup, a serving counter, and baristas from Roemah Koffie who prepared each cup with care. Its old-school look and cozy setup made it stand out among the festival’s many attractions. Roemah Koffie brought it to Bali with the hope that people could enjoy coffee in a new and memorable way—right in the middle of a cultural event.
Throughout the festival, Roemah Koffie Van stayed open, offering a variety of coffee drinks made with Indonesian beans. The team used cups that were friendly to the environment, and each drink came with a short story from the baristas—about the beans, the brewing method, or the inspiration behind the recipe. Denis Surya, who leads marketing at Roemah Koffie, shared that the van was brought to Bali to add something different to the festival. He said the goal was to serve coffee in a way that felt fun and personal, while still honoring the rich flavors of Indonesia.
Mereren Fest itself ran from 22 to 24 August, starting at Noema Resort and continuing to Pererenan Beach. The festival mixed art, music, food, and Balinese traditions. On the first day, guests explored a photography exhibition and listened to live music and poetry. The second day focused on Bali’s kite culture, with workshops and a parade that moved from the resort to the beach. The final day featured a kite competition, DJ sets, and live performances from local musicians.
