Wing, a Hong Kong-based fine dining restaurant led by chef-owner Vicky Cheng, has been announced as the recipient of the Gin Mare Art of Hospitality Award 2025, part of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants program. The announcement marks the second pre-revealed accolade ahead of this year’s official awards ceremony, scheduled for 19 June in Turin, Italy.
Wing made its debut on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list in 2024 at No.20, earning the Highest New Entry Award that year. This latest recognition highlights the restaurant’s dedication to delivering not only innovative cuisine but also a refined and thoughtful guest experience.
Located in Hong Kong’s Central district, Wing evolved from a late-night test kitchen at Cheng’s first venue, Vea, into a full-fledged dining destination that reinterprets Chinese fine dining. Although trained in French cuisine, Cheng’s return to his hometown sparked a deep exploration of his culinary heritage, inspiring a menu rooted in Chinese traditions while embracing modern sensibilities.
Wing’s 11-course seasonal tasting menu is a reflection of Cheng’s culinary philosophy: to tell stories through food. The restaurant is named after Cheng’s Chinese given name, symbolizing hope, perseverance, and pride in Chinese culture. This narrative extends beyond the plate and is reflected in every aspect of the dining experience—from the use of carefully selected ingredients to the service team’s warm and polished approach.
“The dining experience at Wing transcends the plate – it’s a celebration of China’s rich culinary heritage, reimagined to push boundaries,” said William Drew, Director of Content for The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. “Each dish contributes to a gastronomic journey, telling a story that goes beyond just taste.”
Chef Vicky Cheng commented: “This recognition is an incredible honour and a reflection of the hard work, dedication, and passion of the entire team at Wing. I’m deeply grateful to share this journey with my team and our guests, and we look forward to continuing to pass down the wisdom and storytelling of Chinese cuisine to future generations.”
Olivia Flynn, Global Brand Manager at Gin Mare, added: “Wing’s triumph in the Gin Mare Art of Hospitality Award is a testament to its exceptional service and welcoming atmosphere, creating unforgettable experiences. Congratulations to Chef Vicky and the team on this well-deserved achievement.”
