Kavalan Distillery just hit a significant milestone with the launch of their first aged whisky, the Kavalan 15 Years Old Single Malt Whisky 2025 Edition. This limited-edition has been matured in four unique casks: ex-Bourbon, Oloroso Sherry, Ruby Port, and Puncheon; it represents a pivotal moment for the Taiwanese distillery, which has consistently pushed boundaries in whisky production. This release not only celebrates the passage of time but also pays homage to the historic moment in 2006 when the first drops of Taiwanese-made spirit flowed from Kavalan’s stills, laying the foundation for nearly two decades of innovation.

The Kavalan 15 Years Old Single Malt Whisky 2025 Edition, bottled at 43% ABV in 700ml format, will be available in a limited run of just 30,000 bottles worldwide. This rare bottling showcases the distillery’s exceptional aged whisky reserves, demonstrating the potential of maturation in Taiwan’s subtropical climate. “We wanted to achieve extraordinary depth and balance with multiple layers of complexity befitting of a high-age statement whisky,” said CEO Mr. YT Lee. “So we created a formula based on a four-cask maturation that would maximize the characteristics of each cask and achieve a rich harmony in the final product.”

This 15-year-old whisky is presented as a timeless classic, a tribute to the distillery’s mastery, and a celebration of time and craftsmanship. The packaging design features a natural wood grain texture, symbolizing the depth and maturity gained through years of aging. The bottle reflects the concept of “fusion”, harmoniously blending the influences of the four cask types, with textured oak patterns representing their distinct characteristics. A gold-foiled Kavalan logo adds a touch of luxury and sophistication, perfectly encapsulating the refined depth of this exceptional whisky.

The Kavalan 15 Years Old presents a captivating sensory journey, beginning with a radiant golden caramel hue that hints at its rich maturation. On the nose, a symphony of aromas unfolds, with alluring notes of caramel apple mousse, fresh chocolate, and walnut cinnamon rolls, intertwined with subtle hints of dried tangerine peel and plum. The finish reveals a warm, indulgent sweetness of toffee and black date fruit. Upon tasting, lush citrus notes of bergamot, lemon, orange, and grapefruit dance alongside sweet whispers of dried cranberries, raisins, and longan, culminating in velvety notes of dark chocolate gelato and caramel walnut coffee mousse.
