Grand Hyatt Jakarta is welcoming new Italian restaurant to its dining lineup this December with the opening of Club Italiano. Located within the hotel complex at Plaza Indonesia, the restaurant marks the hotel’s latest culinary development, positioning Italian cuisine within a lively, social dining format.
Club Italiano is designed as a casual yet expressive Italian dining venue, drawing from contemporary Italian food culture while maintaining a strong connection to traditional recipes. The restaurant is led by Chef Ivan Vasilev, who was recently appointed Executive Sous Chef at Grand Hyatt Jakarta. With more than 13 years of professional experience across Europe and Asia, Vasilev brings a background rooted in classical Italian training, having graduated from the Angelo Vegni Institute in Tuscany.
The menu focuses on familiar Italian dishes interpreted through a modern lens. Among the dishes highlighted are Ravioli di Ricotta and Penne all’Arrabbiata, alongside other preparations that balance traditional techniques with updated flavour profiles. The approach reflects Chef Vasilev’s emphasis on heritage cooking while adapting it to Jakarta’s evolving dining scene.
Beyond the food, Club Italiano is structured to operate throughout the day, accommodating different dining occasions. The restaurant is planned to transition from daytime brunch and aperitivo sessions into evening dining and late-night gatherings, positioning itself as a social space rather than a single-occasion restaurant. Beverage offerings are integrated into the experience, with classic Italian cocktails such as the Negroni featured as part of the bar programme.
The opening of Club Italiano expands Grand Hyatt Jakarta’s portfolio of dining venues, reinforcing its role as a central food and beverage destination in the city. With six existing restaurants and bars, the hotel continues to develop new concepts that respond to changing dining habits, particularly the growing demand for relaxed, experience-driven restaurants in Jakarta’s central business district.
