Café Kissa has introduced a new menu series called Kissa No Gusto. This collection of dishes blends Japanese ingredients with Italian cooking styles, offering a fresh take on familiar flavors. The idea comes from a style known as Itameshi, which began in Japan in the late 20th century. Itameshi combines elements from both cuisines, Japan and Italy—like pasta with dashi broth or seafood paired with yuzu. At Café Kissa, this approach is used to create meals that reflect both cultures while keeping the café’s relaxed and cheerful atmosphere.
The name Kissa No Gusto brings together two ideas: “Kissa” refers to Japanese café culture, while “Gusto” points to the Italian love of food. Together, they suggest a way of enjoying meals that feels warm and full of character.
Some of the new dishes include Cacio Tsukemen, chilled noodles served with parmesan and dashi cream. Yuzu Calamari, crispy calamari with yuzu aioli and teriyaki glaze, and Ravio Gyoza, a mix between ravioli and gyoza filled with seafood and cheese. There’s also Matcha Pasta, a matcha-based noodle dish with edamame pesto, chicken, and a touch of chili oil.
Cendyarani, President Director of ISMAYA Group, explained that the goal is to rework everyday comfort food in a way that feels fresh but still familiar. The team at Café Kissa sees Itameshi as a way to explore new ideas while keeping the experience enjoyable and easygoing. And in mid-October, the café plans to introduce a hidden menu with more dishes for those who enjoy trying something different.
Kissa No Gusto is now available at Café Kissa, offering a mix of Japanese and Italian flavors in a setting that feels both casual and thoughtful.
