After several years operating as a multi-level general store, BRAUD Cafe Jakarta has returned to its original café identity, marking a new phase for the Bali-born artisan bakery in the capital. The rebrand signals a move back to the format that first defined BRAUD’s presence in Indonesia: a café built around bread, daily routines, and food meant to be shared throughout the day.
BRAUD’s story began in Bali in 2014 as an artisan bakery, before expanding into the café format with BRAUD Cafe Seminyak in 2020. When the brand entered Jakarta in 2022, it did so through BRAUD General Store, a two-level concept that combined a bakery, studio kitchen, and dining space. The ground floor housed the bakery and open kitchen, allowing guests to see breads and pastries prepared fresh each day, while the upper floor functioned as a sit-down dining area.
The latest transition sees the Jakarta outpost stepping away from the general store identity and returning to a café format that mirrors the brand’s earlier philosophy. Now operating as BRAUD Cafe Jakarta, the space is positioned around everyday dining moments, from breakfast through dinner, with an emphasis on familiarity rather than experimentation.
Alongside the rebrand, BRAUD Cafe Jakarta has introduced an evening menu that expands its offering beyond daytime bakery fare. The dinner selection reflects the kitchen’s broader influences, combining grilled meats, seafood, pasta, rice dishes, and pizzas while still anchoring the experience in bread and produce that have long defined the brand. Dishes range from steak frites and wagyu with rice to fresh pasta, burgers, and shared plates, signalling a more complete café experience for later hours.
Despite the change in name and structure, the core of BRAUD remains consistent. The bakery continues to produce its sourdoughs and pastries daily, reinforcing the role of bread as the foundation of the café. Rather than a departure, the shift back to BRAUD Cafe Jakarta reads as a recalibration — a return to the rhythms and values that shaped the brand from the beginning, adapted to Jakarta’s pace and dining habits.
