Jakarta’s August secured the No.49 spot, marking Indonesia’s only entry on this year’s Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list. Meanwhile, Locavore NXT in Ubud was honored with the Sustainable Restaurant Award, sponsored by Hibiki, recognizing its commitment to eco-friendly and locally sourced dining practices. The recognition highlights Indonesia’s growing presence on the international culinary scene.

At the live awards ceremony for Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025, Gaggan in Bangkok secured the top spot, earning the title of The Best Restaurant in Asia, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna. The event was hosted in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) and the Seoul Metropolitan Government for the second consecutive year.

The rankings are determined by votes from the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, a diverse panel of over 350 food critics, chefs, restaurateurs, and culinary experts. The list highlights exceptional dining establishments from 16 cities across the region, celebrating innovation and talent in the industry.

Gaggan rose two places from its previous ranking to claim the No.1 position. Chef Gaggan Anand, who has previously held this title a record four times, launched a new iteration of his restaurant in late 2019. Since re-entering the rankings in 2023, it has steadily climbed to the top, reaffirming Anand’s reputation for creative and boundary-pushing gastronomy.

Blending progressive Indian cuisine with influences from Japan, France, and Thailand, Gaggan’s multi-course tasting menu is a theatrical and immersive experience. With natural and biodynamic wine pairings, interactive presentations, and a lively playlist, the intimate 14-seat counter brings guests into the heart of the creative process.
