One MICHELIN-starred Andō, ranked No. 41 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, will host August, Jakarta’s acclaimed dining destination and No. 49 on the 2025 list, for a two-night culinary collaboration on 17–18 September 2025. The Hong Kong edition follows the first leg of the partnership held in Jakarta in late August, continuing a cross-cultural dialogue between two of Asia’s rising culinary voices.

Founded by Chef Hans Christian and restaurateur Budi Cahyadi, August has become a standout in Southeast Asia’s dining scene since its debut in 2021, earning the American Express One To Watch Award 2023. The restaurant is celebrated for its refined yet approachable style, blending modern techniques with the depth of Indonesian spices. Its kitchen champions premium, responsibly sourced local ingredients, from Lombok line-caught fish and Bogor farm eggs to Sukabumi vanilla and Pipiltin Cocoa’s single-origin chocolate.

At Andō, Chef-Owner Agustin Balbi draws on his Argentine roots, Spanish training, and Japanese influences to create narrative-driven menus that reinterpret memory and cultural traditions. Since opening in 2020, the restaurant has become known for its evolving seasonal menus, curated wine pairings, and intimate dining setting.

The upcoming collaboration will see the two kitchens unite for a multi-course tasting menu paired with seven glasses of curated wines, starting from 6:30 p.m. on both evenings. Guests can expect a dialogue between Chef Agustin’s storytelling plates and August’s contemporary Indonesian approach.

The menu highlights include:

  • Snacks: Roasted Corn with Humita and Salchichon Iberico; Tempe with Sambal Roa and Chicken Hearts; Ama Ebi with Passion Fruit; and Potato with Curry and Bresaola.

  • Cold Appetiser: Lombok Fish Crudo with Watermelon and Laksa.

  • Hot Appetiser: Squid and Maitake Porridge with Tamarind and Yunnan Mushroom.

  • Fish Course: Suzuki with Seaweed, Razor Clam, and Ginger Flower.
