In Jakarta’s evolving dining scene, French culinary traditions take the spotlight this July as ALICE by Tom Aikens at The Langham, Jakarta presents a special Bastille Day Set Menu. Held over two days on 11–12 July 2025, the limited-time offering celebrates French cuisine through refined dishes, premium ingredients, and carefully selected beverage pairings.
The annual Bastille Day commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison on 14 July 1789—a pivotal moment in the French Revolution that came to symbolize liberty and unity. At ALICE, this spirit of liberté is expressed not through speeches or parades, but on the plate—through a set menu that pays homage to France’s rich gastronomic heritage.
The four-course menu, available for lunch and dinner at IDR 898,000++ per person, brings together classical French technique with modern touches. Guests can also opt for a wine and cocktail pairing at an additional IDR 398,000++, or order à la carte from the menu.
The culinary experience begins with an amuse-bouche of Charcoal Beignet with Aubergine Purée, paired with Accademia Prosecco Brut. The starter features a Tarte aux Champignons et Comté, blending forest mushrooms, Comté cheese, and parsley pesto, matched with a house-made Lillet Blanc Spritz.
A seafood course of St Jacques “Meunière”—Hokkaido scallop with hazelnut and lemon butter—is served with Domaine d’Aussières Chardonnay. The main course highlights a rustic yet elegant French classic: Joue de Bœuf Wagyu Braisée “Grand Mère”—braised Australian Wagyu cheek in red wine jus—accompanied by Mottura Le Pitre Primitivo di Manduria from Italy.
For dessert, guests are treated to a Millefeuille au Chocolat et Framboises, a layered pastry with chocolate crémeux, raspberry, and vanilla crème anglaise, finished with Cointreau Triple Sec. The meal concludes with petit fours—freshly baked madeleines and mini palmiers.
Set within a Parisian-inspired interior, ALICE offers a welcoming setting that blends everyday comfort with understated elegance. Known for its relaxed yet stylish atmosphere, the restaurant is a destination for all-day dining—from breakfast and afternoon tea to casual dinners. This Bastille Day celebration further reflects ALICE’s commitment to presenting timeless European culinary moments to Jakarta’s dining audience.
The Bastille Day Set Menu will be available exclusively on 11 and 12 July 2025. Limited seating is expected during this two-day celebration of French food and culture in the heart of Jakarta.
