The Langham, Jakarta has announced the relaunch of its restaurant ALICE, now reimagined as ALICE by Tom Aikens, a French bistro concept created in collaboration with British chef Tom Aikens. The refreshed venue is scheduled to open on 23 April 2025.

Bringing together Aikens’ background in classical French cuisine and the expertise of The Langham’s Executive Chef Jeremy Jouan, the restaurant introduces a new menu inspired by traditional bistro fare. The setting, with both indoor and terrace seating, is designed to reflect the ambiance of a Parisian bistro — lively, welcoming, and elegant.

The à la carte menu includes classic French dishes such as Escalope de Saumon à l’Oseille, featuring seared salmon and a velvety sorrel sauce, and Côte de Veau, a milk-fed veal chop pan-seared and served with seasonal vegetables and a rich veal jus. Side dishes like Gratin Dauphinois and Haricots Verts Lyonnaise, along with house-made sauces, offer guests the opportunity to personalise their plates.

The restaurant also introduces Plats du Jour, a rotating daily special showcasing French comfort food. These include Boeuf Bourguignon on Mondays, Poulet “Chasseur” on Wednesdays, and Coq au Vin on Sundays — all prepared using time-honoured techniques and seasonal ingredients.

Tom Aikens, one of Britain’s most well-known chefs, has led several Michelin-starred restaurants and trained under legendary French chefs such as Pierre Koffmann, Joël Robuchon, and Gérard Boyer. “I’ve always believed that the elegance of French cuisine lies in its simplicity,” said Aikens. “Our goal is to create a dining experience that is at once familiar, sophisticated, and unforgettable.”

ALICE will also continue The Langham’s tradition of Afternoon Tea, a custom that dates back to 1865 at The Langham, London. Aikens brings a modern touch to the offering, which features freshly baked scones, delicate sandwiches, and intricately crafted pastries.

“This relaunch reflects The Langham’s enduring commitment to excellence, while also marking a thrilling new era for ALICE,” said Alexander Poindl, General Manager of The Langham, Jakarta. “We are honoured to collaborate with Chef Tom Aikens to bring an experience that harmoniously marries French culinary tradition with British sophistication.”

ALICE by Tom Aikens aims to be a celebration of craftsmanship, hospitality, and classic flavours — offering Jakarta diners a refined take on bistro dining in the heart of the city.
