Plataran Indonesia has introduced its Signature Plataran Rijsttafel, a new dining experience that showcases the diversity of Indonesian cuisine through a curated selection of regional dishes. Available exclusively at Plataran Menteng, the menu reinterprets the historic rijsttafel tradition while highlighting local ingredients and recipes from across the archipelago.
Originating during the Dutch East Indies period, rijsttafel, which translates to “rice table,” is a multi-course dining tradition that presents a wide variety of Indonesian dishes served together. Plataran’s interpretation aims to celebrate Indonesia’s culinary diversity through a collection of regional specialities prepared using traditional recipes and locally sourced ingredients.
The menu begins with appetisers including Asinan Juhi from Jakarta and Sambal Matah from Bali, followed by Soto Banjar, the aromatic chicken soup from South Kalimantan. Main courses include Sate Ayam, Bebek Bumbu Madura, and Udang Bakar Tapanuli, each showcasing distinctive regional spice blends and cooking techniques from different parts of Indonesia.
To conclude the meal, Plataran presents contemporary interpretations of traditional Indonesian desserts, including Es Teler Entremet and Wingko Babat, combining familiar flavours with modern pastry techniques.
Beyond the menu itself, Plataran works with small and medium-sized food producers (UMKM) from various regions of Indonesia to source selected ingredients, supporting local culinary communities while helping preserve traditional recipes and regional food heritage.
The Signature Plataran Rijsttafel is now available exclusively at Plataran Menteng, the group’s heritage dining destination in Jakarta. The restaurant has recently been recognised in Indonesia’s 100 Best Restaurants 2026, and received honours at the World Luxury Awards 2025, including Best Indonesian Cuisine Global Winner and Best Luxury Heritage Restaurant in Southern Asia.
