YOUNG Jakarta and Bangkok’s Choen Restaurant will present Fire Meets Fire, a two-night collaboration featuring a multi-course Thai menu centred around wood-fired cooking and regional flavours on 31 July and 1 August 2026.
YOUNG Jakarta and Choen Restaurant from Bangkok will collaborate for Fire Meets Fire, a two-night dining experience highlighting Thai cuisine through the techniques of grilling and wood-fired cooking. Taking place on 31 July and 1 August 2026 at YOUNG Restaurant in Jakarta, the collaboration brings together chefs from both restaurants to present a multi-course menu inspired by the flavours of Thailand.
The dinner features Chef Yohans Gozal of YOUNG and Chef Geravich Mesaengnilverakul (Mew) of Choen Restaurant, who share an approach centred on regional Thai ingredients, traditional flavours, and fire-based cooking techniques.
At YOUNG, Chef Yohans explores contemporary Thai cuisine through a modern grill concept, focusing on refined techniques and the diversity of flavours found across Thailand’s regions. Meanwhile, Chef Mew of Choen Restaurant develops tasting menus that highlight local ingredients and traditional influences through contemporary interpretations.
For Fire Meets Fire, the chefs will present a samrub-style menu featuring a selection of Thai dishes prepared with wood-fired techniques. The meal begins with amuse-bouche including Pla Sao Nam, Khao Tang, and Laab Ped, followed by Gai Tom Khamin. The main courses include a Nam Phrik platter and Gaeng Khua Talay, served alongside Choen’s signature smoked rice. The menu concludes with Kathi, a coconut-based dessert inspired by Thai flavours.
Beyond a guest chef collaboration, Fire Meets Fire represents an exchange between two Thai dining concepts from different cities, exploring how fire, ingredients, and culinary traditions can shape contemporary interpretations of Thai cuisine.
Fire Meets Fire will take place at YOUNG Restaurant, Jl. Wijaya II No. 42, Melawai, Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta Selatan, with two seatings available at 5:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. The dinner is priced at IDR 1,200,000++ per person with a minimum reservation of two guests.
