In celebration of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day, The St. Regis Jakarta presents a limited-time Afternoon Tea collaboration with Iwan Tirta Private Collection, offering a culinary tribute to Indonesia’s legacy through the artistry and life journey of the late batik maestro, Iwan Tirta.

Titled “A Journey in Layers”, the themed afternoon tea reflects different chapters of Iwan Tirta’s life—from his early days during the Dutch colonial era and his international travels, to his enduring dedication to Indonesian culture and batik heritage. Each tier of the tea service is carefully composed to echo key influences and memories from Tirta’s storied life, turning the traditional afternoon tea into an edible narrative.

Hosted at The Drawing Room of The St. Regis Jakarta, the menu combines savory and sweet bites infused with cultural symbolism and cross-cultural techniques. Highlights include bitterballen, a nod to Dutch culinary heritage, reimagined with mozzarella from Yogyakarta, and the Talam Mille-feuille, which brings together classical French pastry techniques and traditional Indonesian flavors.

The collaboration goes beyond flavor, aiming to evoke a sense of national pride, elegance, and cultural reflection. As with Tirta’s iconic batiks—famous for their intricate layers and stories rooted in Indonesian identity—this afternoon tea experience pays homage to a legacy of artistry and craftsmanship.

Each guest who enjoys the “A Journey in Layers” Afternoon Tea during August 2025 will also receive an exclusive voucher from Iwan Tirta Private Collection, extending the cultural appreciation from the table to personal style.

Available throughout the month at The Drawing Room, this special offering invites guests to reflect on Indonesia’s journey and heritage through a refined and meaningful culinary experience—one that bridges tradition, memory, and taste.
