In celebration of its 11th year in Bali and over two decades since its inception in New York, Room4Dessert will host a special one-night-only event on Tuesday, 24 June 2025. The dinner will feature an 11-course tasting menu, crafted by founder Chef Will Goldfarb in collaboration with some of Indonesia’s most prominent chefs and alumni of the Room4Dessert kitchen.

Originally established as a late-night dessert bar in Manhattan, Room4Dessert has evolved into a culinary hub in Ubud, rooted in regeneration, storytelling, and community. The anniversary event reflects this evolution by inviting back former mentees who have gone on to shape Indonesia’s diverse food scene.

The chefs participating in the dinner include:

  • Chef Vallian (Kindling, Jakarta): Known for his flame-focused approach and commitment to locally sourced ingredients, Chef Vallian’s style was first influenced during his time at Room4Dessert.

  • Chef Ardika (August, Jakarta): Now part of the team behind August, one of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, Ardika combines technical precision with a focus on seasonal and heritage-driven flavors, influenced by his early training under Chef Goldfarb.

  • Chef Vivi (ESA): Specializing in desserts that reimagine Indonesian nostalgia, Vivi brings a balance of fine pastry and playful storytelling, grounded in her experience at Room4Dessert.

  • Chef Renatta Moeloek (Glou / MasterChef Indonesia): A well-known figure in Indonesian culinary circles, Chef Renatta balances her work on MasterChef Indonesia with leading Glou’s creative culinary direction.

  • Chef Made Dhanu (FED, Bali): From Bali’s street kitchens to FED’s experimental dining, Made Dhanu’s work is a reflection of Room4Dessert’s ethos: inventive, grounded, and centered around community.

A Menu Rooted in Stories and Memories

The collaborative menu will include 11 courses, each designed to represent a story, flavor memory, or culinary milestone from the participating chefs’ time at Room4Dessert. The experience will highlight personal and regional influences, contemporary techniques, and collaborative creativity — all grounded in a shared legacy.

With limited seats available, the dinner is positioned not just as a celebration, but as a homage to the evolution of pastry and progressive cuisine in Indonesia. Guests can expect inventive reinterpretations, emotional narratives, and flavor-forward dishes that reflect a culinary journey spanning more than two decades.

“Room4Dessert has always been more than a place — it’s a journey. Watching these chefs grow, explore, and create their own language through food is the biggest reward of all,” says Chef Will Goldfarb.

From its origins in New York to its current role in Ubud’s thriving food landscape, Room4Dessert remains committed to cultivating both innovative desserts and the next generation of culinary voices.
