The holy month of Ramadan has arrived! The joy of hunting and enjoying special cuisines for breaking the fast began to be felt. Of course, when talking about the month most awaited by all Muslims, Arab countries will always be the reference. But did you know that there is one country in Europe that still has a strong tradition of Islamic history? Yes, that country is Spain.

Spain, formerly known as Al-Andalus, was the main route for Islam to enter Europe. With their capital city in Granada, the Arabs, known as the Moors, began to leave traces of Islamic tradition in Spain and its surroundings. Traces of this tradition can be seen through the various famous buildings in the southern region of Spain, as well as their special food.

To introduce traces of Islam in Spain, in the month of Ramadan this year, Mare Nostrum Jakarta again took the initiative to bring something special to Indonesia. In collaboration with Michelin chefs from Barcelona, Eduard Xatruch, Oriol Castro, and Mateu Casañas, Mare Nostrum Jakarta created a special Al-Andalus menu called Ramadan Delicacies.

The Ramadan Delicacies menu consists of various dishes such as Tempura Dates, Carpaccio, Parmesan & Foie Gras, Lamb, Couscous, Almonds & Spices and Almond Ice Cream, Black Truffle & Bee Pollen.

‘Tempura Dates’, deep fried dates with honey and orange blossom – a special amuse bouche will be served during the whole month of Ramadan to Mare Nostrum dining guests.

Special takjil ‘Tangerine Tea’, a Moroccan mint tea & tangerine foam will also be served during Iftar Ramadan to Mare Nostrum dining guests during Iftar dinner.
As for starters we have ‘Carpaccio, Parmesan & Foie Gras’. Roasted sliced tenderloin with foie gras, parmesan, pine nuts, basil and chives. This special Ramadan menu sells at a price IDR 280,000++ for 2 pax.

On the main course we have ‘Lamb, Couscous, Almonds & Spices’. It’s Lamb loin with couscous, dates, almonds, saffron, honey and ras el hanout. This special Ramadan menu sells at a price IDR 320,000++ for 2 pax.

For the dessert to complement the full Iftar dinner, we have created ‘Almond Ice Cream, Black Truffle & Bee Pollen’. It’s homemade Almond Ice Cream with black truffle paste, caramel pine nuts, almond chunks and bee pollen. This dessert sells at IDR 95,000++.

Special Ramadan beverages have also been created by our beverage team. ‘Azilah Costa’, a refreshing mocktail made from Aloe vera, mint and lemonade. This special beverage sells at IDR 55,000++. While the ‘Illa De Coco’, a sweet and creamy mocktail made from Nata de Coco & Pineapple leaf, sells at IDR 55,000++.
