Our Bali, Your Bali is a cookbook that perfectly encapsulates the sense of community that visitors to the island like. The book’s primary goal, in addition to the incredible recipes and tales it contains, is to generate money for five important local charities. Succesfully raised over $450.000 with over 5.000 donors since the book’s publication at the beginning of 2021, the funds raised have been thoughtfully distributed to help initiatives and communities in the best way possible.
The book has received the highest accolades in the categories “The Best of the Best 2022” as well as “The Best Fundraising Cookbook 2022” at The Gourmand Book Awards, the world’s most prestigious book awards (equated to the “Oscars” for films). With sales of the book around the globe, it’s now time to share Dean Keddell’s astounding work with the people of Indonesia.
Following the success, the 2nd documentary in the series Paradise on Hold will also screen at this dinner. East Bali Poverty Project has been the priority of Dean and his fund raising as the situation in Desa Ban is dire. Through the second episode of our documentary Buro Creative Giving and Our Bali Your Bali are giving a voice to those residing in this region of Karagasem. Extreme poverty and inequality have been muffled by the thick bamboo forests for too long. These are heartfelt stories from people lost in time that shatter our very definition of an island of paradise.
In the spirit of community Dean will introduce you to the 5 founders behind Bali’s most productive and worthwhile charities during the evening. Aside from creating awareness, the objective of this evening is to ensure Our Bali Your Bali continues to raise funds for those depending on Dean for help. The $520,000 raised to date is simply not enough. 100% of profits from the sales of Our Bali Your Bali go to those in greatest need, any proceeds from this dinner will also be given away.
The charity dinner will be held on Saturday, July 23rd 2022 at Jackson Lily’s. The dinner will feature a multi-course Indonesian banquet from the people featured in Our Bali Your Bali book. The dinner is priced at IDR 550,000 net including welcome drinks & canapes + a glass of wine with dinner, and IDR 1,350,000 net as above + a signed copy of Our Bali Your Bali.
