M Bloc Space in Blok M, South Jakarta has officially reopened after undergoing major changes. The venue, known for its role in supporting creative communities, held a relaunch event at its concert hall, M Bloc Live House. The theme “Semua Kembali ke Blok M” was brought back to mark the occasion, just as it was used during the original opening in 2019.
Since early 2025, the area has been renovated to improve comfort and accessibility. The entrance was redesigned to be more spacious and welcoming, with better access for people with disabilities. New public facilities, including a prayer room and restrooms, were added at the back. The rooftops of existing shops were repaired and refreshed to create a more unified appearance. The concert and event spaces also received upgrades, with better lighting and sound systems. Covered walkways were built along both sides of the complex, offering shade and safer paths for visitors.
Ahmad Romero Comacho, CEO of M Bloc Space, explained that the changes are meant to continue the original vision of the late Glenn Fredly and other co-founders. The goal is not to change direction, but to keep the movement going and make sure it stays relevant for future generations.
As part of the reopening, M Bloc Design Week 2025 will be held from October 31 to November 9. The festival, now in its fourth year, will focus on sustainable design under the theme “Daur Rupa”. It will include exhibitions, talks, and workshops that explore recycled materials and environmentally conscious design. Events will also take place in other cities such as Medan, Yogyakarta, Surakarta, Surabaya, and Bali.
Another change is the renaming of the Creative Hall. Now called Melting Pop, the space is a result of collaboration with Infipop, a youth-focused media platform. This space is designed to host a wide range of events, including film screenings, art shows, and community discussions. It aims to be a place where different groups can meet, share ideas, and work together.
M Bloc Space continues to grow, offering new ways for people to connect, create, and collaborate. The updates reflect its ongoing role as a space for culture, creativity, and community in Jakarta.
