Restaurants have long been center stage in iconic scenes throughout cinema’s history. It’s without a doubt that both the theatre of a dining event and classic cinema through the decades have influenced each other.

With the dramas of recent times, Locavore introduce a more enjoyable narrative of their own. Inspired by classic cinema and the striking genre of Film Noir, the team at Locavore have creatively wrapped their new tasting menu within a mixture of inspirations and references from
classic cinema.

Situated in Ubud, the heart of Bali’s art and culture communities. Locavore is a small and unassuming restaurant that seats just 36 for lunch and dinner.

The Fourth Wall is a presentation of this season’s tasting menu. Locavore’s edits of the cinema greats celebrate the iconic and stylish genre of Film Noir mixed within a collage of memorable scenes from films.

As the chefs and kitchen teams intricately plate the dishes – the cast in your performance – each cinematic scene features creative uses of local ingredients. Welcoming Bali’s wet season, the team at Locavore has introduced more animal protein, root vegetables, sauces and fermentations, and yes, its Durian season too..

“For this season, we wanted to switch things up with our snacks. There will be 9 different snacks with lots of interesting ingredients
such as bittermelon, young chayote, and even a bouquet of wild herbs. But for me the real highlight of the snack is the root vegetable charcuterie where we cook, smoked, marinate and dry vegetables,” said Chef Eelke.

Meanwhile, for their main course, Chef Ray wanted to highlight lamb dishes. “If you think about it, there aren’t that many traditional Indonesian lamb dishes, and I think overall Indonesians don’t eat enough lamb which really is a fantastic meat. I even don’t think my mum ever cooked a single lamb dish ever which is a shame. There are quality and ethical local lambs reared in Indonesia, ours come from Tengaran, which is located on the slopes of Mount Merbabu in Central Java,” said Chef Ray.

To end the guest cinematic gourmet experience, there will be a ‘secret’ surprise dessert at the end of the meal, served differently whether it is a hot day or a rainy day.

The Fourth Wall’ Tasting Menu will begins starting from Wednesday 20th October 2021.
