Jigger & Pony Group, the acclaimed hospitality group behind Jigger & Pony (ranked No. 3 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2025 and No. 9 on The World’s 50 Best Bars 2025), will launch its latest concept, POP CITY X PONY, on 26 November 2025 at 19 Cecil Street. Created in collaboration with The House of Suntory, the new venue embodies the group’s ethos of craftsmanship, creativity, community, and conviviality.

The concept draws inspiration from the vibrant subcultures of modern Japan, blending music, art, and fashion influences into a cocktail-first experience. Designed by Peter Sillings & Associates, the space captures the energy of urban Japan through contemporary design and a playful approach to hospitality.

A Tribute to Japanese Creativity and Culture

The name POP CITY reinterprets City Pop, the iconic Japanese music genre of the 1980s that symbolized optimism and cultural fusion. This spirit of blending influences lies at the core of POP CITY X PONY — a bar that bridges Japanese craftsmanship with Singapore’s cosmopolitan dynamism.

“Japanese culture is often seen as uniform, but it’s filled with subcultures, influences, and creativity,” said Aki Eguchi, Bar Programme Director of Jigger & Pony Group. “With POP CITY, we wanted to create a space where people can express themselves freely while discovering the traditions that shape Japanese bartending.”

Cocktails that Capture the Spirit of POP and CITY

The cocktail program showcases Japanese artistry through playful yet refined creations. Each drink evolves sip by sip, balancing familiarity with innovation while celebrating seasonal ingredients and precision techniques. Guided by Jigger & Pony’s hallmark approach to storytelling through flavor, the menu promises a collection of drinks that evoke curiosity, nostalgia, and emotion.

A Cultural Living Room in Four Acts

POP CITY X PONY unfolds across four distinct zones, each designed to encourage exploration.

  • Byōbu Bar features a folding screen back bar framed by antique mirrors, blending craftsmanship with elegance.

  • Bar Mixtape draws inspiration from Tokyo’s Golden Gai district, offering guests a private listening experience with curated CDs and headphones.

  • Tasting Commons serves as a daytime hub for workshops and tastings, transforming into a DJ and artist space at night.

  • After Hours Salon offers an intimate setting for nightcaps and conversation, combining Japanese sophistication with casual comfort.

“At POP CITY, every cocktail tells a story,” shared Sylvia Chong, Bar Manager of POP CITY. “We want guests to leave with emotions that linger — like a song that stays in your head long after the night ends.”

The opening of POP CITY X PONY marks another milestone for Jigger & Pony Group, further expanding its influence across Asia’s cocktail scene. Known for its venues Gibson, Live Twice, and Cosmo Pony Jakarta, the group continues to shape how people experience cocktails through creativity, inclusivity, and world-class craftsmanship.

Bookings for POP CITY X PONY open two weeks prior to its grand opening on Wednesday, 26 November 2025.
