Guinness has officially introduced its Imported Draught variant to Indonesia, marking a new chapter for the iconic stout in Southeast Asia. Known for its smooth texture and subtle hints of coffee and chocolate, this version brings a familiar taste to local bars, restaurants, and homes. The beer is made using barley roasted at exactly 232°C, a process that gives Guinness its distinct bittersweet and roasted flavor. Whether served on tap or poured from a can, the taste remains consistent—creamy, balanced, and unmistakably Guinness.
One of the standout features of Guinness Imported Draught is its two-part pour ritual. The process begins by tilting the glass at a 45-degree angle to pour the first half of the beer, allowing a soft foam to rise and settle. After a short pause, the remaining beer is added, creating a smooth head and revealing the stout’s deep ruby red hue. Originally developed at the Dublin brewery, this ritual is now part of the Guinness experience in Indonesia.
To support different drinking occasions, Guinness is also introducing the Guinness Microdraught system. Unlike traditional taps that use nitrogen cylinders, this setup relies on an air pump to serve the beer from a specially designed can—making it suitable for both large venues and smaller gatherings. Since its global debut in 2021, Microdraught has reached over 12,000 locations in 150 countries. For those enjoying Guinness at home, the canned version features a nitrogen widget ball, an innovation from the 1980s that helps recreate the same creamy texture found in bar-served Guinness.
Naomi Noviyanti Malau, Brand Manager of Guinness Indonesia, shared, “Globally, we’re seeing a trend where consumers increasingly care more about the quality of the drinks they consume. In response to this dynamic, we’re introducing Guinness Imported Draught in 15 cities to elevate Indonesian consumer experiences, strengthen our partner position, and drive growth within the premium beer category. Guinness Imported Draught is currently available in more than 1,000 bars, restaurants, and convenience stores across Indonesia with more to come in the future.”
With the arrival of Guinness Imported Draught, Indonesian consumers now have access to three distinct Guinness variants. Alongside the bold Foreign Extra Stout and the smooth, caramel-toned Guinness Smooth, this new addition offers a lighter, creamier option—each crafted to suit different tastes and occasions. Guinness’ expansion in Indonesia reflects its commitment to quality, tradition, and the shared joy of raising a glass—whether at a lively gathering or a quiet night in.
