As the year draws to a close, CHAGEE has chosen to mark the holiday season with a drink that blends comfort and character. The centerpiece of its December offering is the Cocoa Oolong Milk Tea, a seasonal creation that brings together two ingredients from very different corners of the world.
The tea base comes from the Wuyi Mountains in China, a region recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Oolong from this area is valued for its roasted fragrance, floral notes, and a natural sweetness often compared to honey. Into this foundation, CHAGEE adds cocoa sourced from Côte d’Ivoire’s Gold Belt, a region long regarded as one of the world’s most respected producers of cacao. The result is a drink that begins with the warm, toasty aroma of oolong and finishes with the soft richness of cocoa. Served hot, it carries a creamy texture that makes it well-suited for quiet moments or conversations at the end of a busy year.
This seasonal drink is paired with a collaboration that brings another familiar presence into the holiday mix. CHAGEE has joined with Sanrio to feature Tanned Hello Kitty, a collectible figure known across Asia-Pacific. This version of Hello Kitty is styled with a sun-kissed look inspired by tropical afternoons, giving her a relaxed and approachable charm. The character’s cheerful energy is meant to complement the comforting qualities of the Cocoa Oolong Milk Tea, creating a sense of warmth and familiarity.
The collaboration extends beyond the drink itself. CHAGEE has introduced a line of limited-edition merchandise designed around the holiday theme and the playful spirit of Hello Kitty. Items such as charms and accessories are created to be shared, collected, or gifted, each carrying a touch of seasonal brightness.
In Indonesia, the partnership is being celebrated with a pop-up event at PIK Avenue in Jakarta. Running from late December, the space is designed as a “Holiday Home,” inviting visitors to step into a festive setting with interactive zones, photo spots, and tasting sessions of the cocoa oolong drink. Guests receive a stamp card to guide them through the experience, which concludes with exclusive holiday-themed rewards.
Both CHAGEE and Sanrio describe the collaboration as a way to highlight simple rituals that bring people together. Eugene Lee, Chief Marketing Officer of CHAGEE APAC, notes that tea is more than a beverage—it is a way to pause and connect. Kohei Imai, COO of Sanrio Southeast Asia, adds that Hello Kitty has always represented kindness and connection, values that align with the spirit of the season.
Taken together, the Cocoa Oolong Milk Tea and Tanned Hello Kitty offer a reminder that the holidays are not about doing more, but about feeling more—whether through a quiet cup of tea or a shared moment with someone close.
